Kuwait isn't that horrible to live in imo, but for your sake you should probably leave but i wouldn't say you should entirely cut your ties, remember, that your family is still family an somewhat they still love you for a reason, i don't think you should really care about your sexuality since you are religious at this point, but if you really feel confused then look up online resources on the matter, as for where to live, umm, there are indeed a lot of options for that but i would recommend going to a place you have been before, as usually you already tastes the waters there and if it felt comfortable go with it, financial mmmm, it's really difficult, you could always get support on that matter from relatives even your parents for that, and just say it's because you want better education that's why you want to study abroad, besides that good luck on your life

if you do really well in high school then foreign colleges could give you a scholarship. then money isn't that hard to deal with. but yeah... it's expensive. it'll cost more for you, and you don't qualify for federal aid.
if you're 14 then you're about to start hs. just hustle man if it's what you really want. also take standardized tests so they know how you stack up to foreigners. and pay attention to their admissions requirements because they're different than Kuwait's.

I had some gay friends get out of Kuwait, they came to Canada, studied, but were forced to go back to Kuwait after they graduated, it was the most horrible thing I had ever witnessed, he was so depressed he was being forced back... I guess Kuwait paid for all of his tuition and wanted him to work back there once he got the degree.

in university, people tend to change their minds about a lot of things. pick either one (med/political science) and actually start studying in it. you'll pretty quickly be able to surmise whether you want to keep doing what you're doing or not I think

I definitely wouldn't recommend ANYWHERE in America. General public would more than likely be afraid of you and think you are a terrorist since you are from Kuwait. I really wish I were joking about that, but because of the actions of a small group of people, I've seen some of the Indian owned business get targeted by bigoted hate groups. Personally, I think it's nonsense. Land of the free, home of the brave? It's all nonsense. Sells the rest of the world an imagine that America is a tall and proud nation.

If you need a field of study, where ever you go, I recommend computer science. We will always need engineers in the software industry.

I'll just comment, I have a friend who studied Political Science, when I was doing one of my work-terms for school (co-op in Canada, too strong), I worked at an IT help desk - my buddy who studied political science was working there, nothing related to his field :/

Moral of the story is, study computer science ;D

Make sure you enjoy computers though and like to program.

When your hobby is what you study, it's great, trust :P. I find it really interesting.. Usually if you study something you enjoy that is creative, you end up majoring in like music or English or drama or something.. Computer Science is something that's creative, that you can do as a hobby, and something in demand, which is awesome.

FFR is pretty open with what data you can get, why not make some FFR or stepmania tools ;D

I have to add a gotcha to that first part. Computer Science as a major also includes theory and some heavy mathematics, especially when it comes to Analysis of Algorithms and the Theory of Computation.

Computer Science as a major isn't just "computers and programming." That generalization is a big misrepresentation of what students are to expect in that major. Another way to phrase it: You should have an interest in logic and problem solving.

                        Re: Thinking about moving away

seconding dossar on CS. i took theory of computation and enjoyed it, but i'm not everyone. (we got to design a coin that solves the halting problem!) people tend to underestimate how mathy CS can get in general*, even at the beginning level, as evidenced by the number of students i have who are in this class because they didn't want to take math as their gen ed.

"liking to program" tends more toward software engineering, i would think, though off the top of my head i don't know too many programs with a fully separate SE track.

                        * also evidenced by upper-level professors having to warn people when class gets "mathy" -_-

Hang in there man, I know it doesn't seem like much on the other side of a computer screen but I'm rooting for you.

Since it's the end of your year and if you are able, is it possible to go somewhere? Travel to a place you've always wanted to go and get an idea of what it would be like to live there? It seems like you've made up your mind to go already, so maybe getting out and about would give you a chance to explore your possibilities
