Bleh. When people put number in their names... just annoys me. I mean in the place of letters, ofcourse.

    For example:

    5uP32 N35D
bleh i can't come up with any more... the letter -> number conversion is too weird.
Arch0wl... really how much cooler is it with the zero? No offense, but my initial instinct is to just kinda... shake my head in disapproval and sigh, maybe some eye rolling.

Arch0wl is better than ArchOwl. 0s always look better than Os. Os are too wide.

I hate acronyms that try to become words and fail miserably.

I also hate new acronyms that try to become cool but just suck as Tank clearly stated above.

I just hate acroynms that aren't in the English dictionary.

Again, I'll point out that all acronyms make language more efficient just so long as the person at the receiving end understands them. We all know what "lol" means, for the most part. If I said "mtfbwy,a" I'd have to explain it, thus making it less efficient. If you already knew it meant "May the force be with you, always" we'd have a much more efficient ending to a conversation.

In conclusion, acronyms are good, but only to the extent that many people know what the acronym means. If they don't, don't bother to use it.

I'm talking about the acronyms people make up that not a lot of people understand, it doesn't help the conversation. I could probably type "May the force be with you always" faster than I could do each individual letter.

And when people use teh instead of the, it annoys me.

Oh and one more thing, when people do things like this...

(Insert sn here): Hey I g3g.
                      Same person: *g1g
                      Same person: **ggg
                      Same person: ***g2g
                      Same person: ll
                      Same person: *lol

I get those conversations all the time.

i only use "teh" when i'm being goofy. like in an anime, when the characters suddenly go chibified and look all goofy.

That's my job, Jamie. I make people laugh...just it turns out I never do it on purpose....ok, back on topic. This thread is practically exhausted. I've repeated myself so many times it's not even funny. Ok, yeah it is. Heh.

It's relatively easy to guess what people are saying with their shorthand most of the time. But the problem I have with it is that I don't understand what they're talking about. On chat for example, they speak so 'slangy' that I find it difficult to follow what they're talking about. Could someone type out a list or something? I still don't get roffle and what's lagging?
