yeah those who can't control their laughing are just annoying. they dont have bad grammar, though, that's my point. they're just really, really annoying.

    Q -
we should still teach proper grammar. that's what school's for! =P in here we dont have to worry as much about things like that, although when taken in large doses, it can annoy very effectively.

It is true, and I believe you. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Also, what I meant by our language splitting is "What happens if we write in internet slang and speak another kind of slang? There are also tons of kinds of slang, so which would be used most often in relation to internet slang?"

Ok, that made so very little sense, I need to go commit my head to a good smack.

eh, if the internet is creating a new language, it'll be a language devoted to people that purposely spell incorrectly just to sound cool, but in reality they suck.

... wait, there's already a kind called leet (1337). lol.

1337 in small doses is okay, such as a comedic "wtf0wned" or in rare cases, "teh cookiez0rz" and such. the only positive thing that language presents is a new suffix for me to add to my list...

i have habit of saying things to sum up an idea, such as "goodnessosityism". that's the standard. when i wanna get weird with it, i usually add on a couple more, like "goodnessosityismeroniz0rz". notice the added "eroni (maceroni)" and "z0rz" tacked onto the already-long list of "ness", "osity", and "ism".

i dont do it often, but it's fun to throw into a conversation at random intervals. <3 suffix.

Just The Other Day, My OLDER brother (Who Never Leaves The Computer ) told me He'd "b.r.b." NOT ON THE COMPUTER EITHER! He said it out loud. tut, tut.

            Decision

Dance Dance ddr, I must warn you: when I was twelve, (2 years ago,) I thought the exact same as you did. But over the years, (yes, a whole two years,) I have seen the very practical uses for using internet slang.

As you type more and more, proper typing becomes less common sense, and slang becomes more practical, because that's the way it is. Ultimately, your decision to type full sentences in words will actually become one to go the extra mile and fight for the way things should be done.

            Do you see the difference?

DDR username, why are you capitalizing every word in your sentences? That's just as grammatically wrong as they come. Also, when you said "But its when people say them out loud," you should have used "it's". When you want to say "it is" you use the apostrophe form.

Say FFR like it was a word. "Ffur" should be what comes out. Since Neo's and my posts, has the rest of this had any relevance to the original topic at all, or is it just previously stated opinion. Sorry for being rude, I just bitch slapped a troll in another thread.

                            Oh right... heh.

I can't stand numbers and crap in words. One of my reasons to hate linkin park. Trying to name all their tracks with numbers and ugh... it's just stupid.

As a general rule, I don't mind acronyms like the LOL mentioned in the first post. However they started, they're common enough that it's not really an issue to me. I use some myself now and then in casual electronic conversations. Smileys/emoticons, too. I wouldn't use them in real writing though. It's the other stuff that bugs me -- the bad grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc. No, this isn't English class, but is it *that* much more effort to write properly and clearly? Most of the time I can easily overlook things if I understand what's being said (especially keeping in mind that English is not everyone's first language), but the less mistakes the better. When people start abbreviating everything they possibly can, it's actually harder for me to read and understand though. I have to think about it and kind of translate your shorthand code into real English. Legibility is sacrificed for speed. Don't be so lazy -- which is more important, to have your writing understood or to save a few seconds in typing it up?

I try not to use "lol" as much as I can, but I just can't stop. Short hand is fine, eye jus h8 wen ppl taip liek tiz. Certain 1337 is okay for me, too, as long as it's just like "Yeah. I pwn3d j00 good." and "411 j00r b453 423 b310n6 70 u5."
