I would have said this but I figured you should at least get something that isn't worthless.

"That just will not do." was keywii's response as she lunged for the scissors, pulled the blades apart, and clamped them down on the base of foil's shaft. Blood start gushing out of the wound where his penis used to be.
            "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Yelled Foil in horror.
"Don't worry. I'm a wizard" uttered Keywii. And with that, Foil's penis grew back.

But seriously, coding? Just get a cheap laptop from the bargain bin.

Back on topic, I wouldn't get a netbook (from personal experience).
My netbook sometimes has trouble surfing the net lmao - it's p. much a worthless PoS.

Netbooks would've been out anyways since the topic here is 'good, fast' laptops, not 'barely adequate, slow as f**k' netbooks.

I dunno what Reincarnate's price range is, but plopping $1400 on a laptop for coding and websurfing sounds like overkill.

As for netbooks... uh, just get a small laptop instead if you need something really portable.
My sister bought this one in the late summer for her senior year of high school ( http://www.staples.com/Samsung-Serie...product_344162 ) and she loves it. Processor's semi-decent (really low-end i3). Don't pay $700 for it though. Wait for a sale, my sis got hers for $530.

I see no reason to drop a grand on this thing -- maybe a couple hundred. It doesn't need to be souped up -- just decent enough for programming and fast enough to process at a high rate.

I love my netbook and it has no problems running IDE's and browsing the web. Pushing its limits would be watching 720p videos and running n64 / ps1 emulators. The thing is great for the price and size though. I have the last generation of the ACER netbook. 10.1 inches, 1.6 ghz atom proccesor and 2gb of ram.

If you wanted something slightly more powerful you should get something in the 13 inch ranch.

I'd say go for it, assuming you're not gonna play GPU-intensive games on there or smash the keyboard into pieces.

But I still have my doubts on those Asian OEMs.

                                Good choice, especially for $500.

IIRC, the only thing that I found as a real flaw for that laptop was the screen. I can't really explain it well, but it seems blurry if you scroll through super high contrast images...?
