    Re: American Interweb Censorship

Obama's far from the worst president we've had. I'll take four more years of Obama over an internet where major corporations are the judge, jury, and executioner.

Obama's not even bad at all IMO. Any president who's in during rough economic times is unpopular.

Anyways I'm not so scared right now but I hope something like this NEVER gets passed. The protocols we use to access information on the internet (HTTP/DNS/TCP/IPv?) will more than probably change in our lifetime, maybe even start to see the beginning of it in this decade. When they do this I really hope they don't do it with this sort of agenda in mind.

It's not that Obama's bad. Just that every time he tried to do something Congress and Republicans always do whatever they can to make it hard for him to actually do ANYTHING good.

          1. Elect black president
          2. Censor interwebs
          3. ???
          4. Doomsday.

It lines up, and I'm sure conspirators will love to add this to the list of events which will lead up to the end.

Seriously though, I think this might pass. I've heard arguments in school about it and from what I hear, it's not an infringement on our basic freedoms. They say, speech is only applicable if actually spoken and it's not a form of press since it's not a printed document. By that argument, I would say this has a good chance.

I don't want this to pass, but I can see how it might.

It's Swedish and gives about -40% of a fuck about American law, or any law for that matter.
Pirating is probably the last thing that will be affected by this law, mostly the law will make it a crime to do currently-legal things such as posting videos of you playing a game or singing a song on Youtube.

If they start interperating laws this literally and not abiding by what they actually mean I'd just plain move or become some sort of violent rebel. Thankfully this isn't happening in Canada but we're heavily influenced by you guys and what happens there, often ends up happening here.

The U.S. would block any connections from there though. You could get around it like how I got on Facebook in China but if authorities find out you're ****ed.

It goes on in Canada because of the way out political system is set up to an unbelievable extent. But thankfully our politicians don't seem to be as apeshit retarded as yours.

                      Gotta love politics.

Honestly i don't disagree with you (Well i do on me being inattentive and/or retarded, but yeah). The "lol.." was more referring to the fact that he was blaming republicans as if there aren't more than a handful of democrats that disagree with a good deal of Obama's policies. And let me say i strongly agree with the statement that our politicians are apeshit retarded.

I'd rather not be dragged into a political debate over this as i hate politics so don't be surprised if i just let me self out of this thread for now. :P

Put down your weed and go back to your high school history/government class, retard. Congress makes a decision and then the president decides if it passes in the end. Like the others have said, if this did pass, even his most devoted followers would hate him.

I don't really love Obama, but pull your head out of your rear end and think about this. This bill being passed would be FAR worse. And besides, ANY president would veto this unless they were just plain stupid. If Obama did let this pass, the law would still be set in place whenever we have our next president. Look at the big picture before making such stupid comments.

In the end, I'm obviously not expecting this to pass, but it is definately a scary thought. :/

wow dude you just came in here and shit on everyone for saying the exact same thing you did.

as for what ScarletSky was referring to, the president can really only go so far as suggesting a bill really. if congress doesn't roll with it, then it doesn't pass. likewise, if the president doesn't roll with congress, it gets vetoed. if congress and the president do not cooperate, then nothing gets passed and time drags on and on and on and on. the majority of congress are trying to make obama look like the worst president in our history. so no, they're not cooperating.

so you called ScarletSky a retard because you conveniently forgot the concept of checks and balances? maybe now you know why we shouldn't say mean things on the internet, because sometimes the retard is YOU!
