    Probably losing my job..

Suck, because this has been around since 1967. My grandfather died there, so I hold this place close to heart it absolutely sucks. On the verge of crying my ****ing eyes out it's bad. Worked here since '08 when my father took over management too. So did my sister and my fathers dad.

Tattoo dedicated to my grandfather also..

wtf. Don't they know you can't put a park on developed land? (Land plots, parking lots, etc.)

That blows. Maybe you should get a petition going..

A 90 acre park should be pretty cool. I would frolic so hard there.

I guess Jeremy Clarkson was right. The love of speed and fast cars is dying. So instead of a dragstrip, it's going to be a stupid playground for squirrels.

                  Condolences.

That is a HUGE load of shit, and I'm sorry, man.

A few years ago my town tore down a drive in theater and in its place there now sits a Walmart Supercenter. Pretty much the entire town was against it but it happened anyway, so I know how you feel.

                        Re: Probably losing my job..

As it stands now, forcing condemnation and eminent domain. They're saying they are going to look for a new place to re-build the track but pretty much everyone knows that's a huge load of BS. It's incredible though how much support we're getting like people sending emails to the mayor, city council, almost any form of government. Former lawyer who used to represent the track. They've been trying to shut down the track for years since a very wealthy lobbyist family moved uphill... mind you that was 15 years after the track was open or so.

Next, while what the city may try to claim is that this is a voluntary sale, nothing could be further from the truth. The city had been trying to buy the track for a while, but could never come up with any money. So the track entered into negotiations with another buyer (who would actually keep the track there, but would result in an infusion of cash for the track). After finding out that the current owners had found a buyer that would keep the track where it is, the city sent a letter threatening the condemnation of the land. Guess what that did to the sale of the property.

While under threat of condemnation, the property is dead. You can't sell it. You can't rezone it. And it makes no sense to spend any more money on it, because it may be taken from you at any time. So that's the first dirty trick the city pulled. Just the threat of condemnation crushed any chance the track had of selling to someone who could improve the place and devalued the purchase price to any other interested buyer.

Then the city, through its codes administration, began really putting the pressure on the owners to "fix" certain alleged violations at the track. "You can't have any electricity in your new outbuilding." Ok. Then it was, "You MUST run electricity to the new outbuilding." Ok. Then it was, "You have to repave the parking lot near the outbuilding". Why? That wasn't on the approved plans? "DO IT!" Then it was, "you need illuminated exit signs in the building." Why? Those weren't on the approved plans and this is a storage shed. It's not a public building as defined by the codes. "Do it or we'll fine you, etc, etc,"

So the city started making it clear that if the owners didn't sell, at a low ball price which the city could afford, they'd just come out there every single day and find something to ticket them for. Take away their vending permit. Something. The city very clearly sent the message, 'If you don't give us this land, we'll make your life a living hell. And if you make us go through the condemnation process, we'll make sure you are offered pennies on the dollar for the property and that after you've paid your lawyers, you'll walk away with next to nothing."

I'm so glad that our government isn't corrupt or anything, y'know it gives me hope for a better economy later on in life for my kids and I.... What a ****ing joke.

You could probably turn this into something bigger with some proof.

People are ****tards. If the wealthy person moves in too close for comfort to the racetrack, that was their own stupidity. You shouldn't have to move, if that is indeed the motive for this.

Tell them to put the park where they propose you place your new track. It'll be cheaper for everyone.

We're going to the city council meeting in an hour, along with about 150 others. I'm pretty sure this buy may just get over turned. The support KCIR is getting is absolutely incredible, 300 fans on the save kcir facebook page within like 5 hours. The article I posted, all of the comments were deleted in the past few hours I believe.

Also, the decided to post this the night before the vote so if we would've known this was happening we'd have a good 250 coming to the meeting.
