Going crazy!
Why can’t people just understand that I want to be left alone? I just wanted to stay in my room Saturday and learn this game but my family insisted that I go to watch a local band play. So, I went to make them happy, pretending that I enjoyed it. But, the entire time, I could not wait to get back home to my room, so I can work on this game. This kind of thing happens a lot. Plus, my mom thinks that she is so hip but she is really out dated and old fashioned. Sometimes this can be embarrassing. Eeeeeeek, am I the only one this happens to?

I am not upset that I have family; I just wish that sometimes they would understand I just want to be alone. Not in a position to move out. Going to school and it is cheaper than dorms. I was just wondering if others feel like this or have this happen.

If you are pretending to be having fun, your family will keep bringing you out to these events on the basis that they think you are enjoying yourself.

Instead of complaining on the internet, confront your parents and casually explain to them that you would like time alone for yourself. I'm sure they will understand.

I didn't directly tell WenR to ask his parents if he can have time alone to smash arrows on an internet rhythm game. What parent would understand that? (exceptions:AJ&Kayla). A parent would understand that their child needs some space for themselves - away from some of the family activities.

It won't always be like this. You'll turn around one day and really want to hang out and be with your family, but you'll have the opposite problem - you won't be able to. Don't complain about a luxury.

No actually the opposite. I am an antisocial bastard who wishes he had more to do than just play videogames all day. Feel lucky also, since your family loves you. I know a few people who don't have that blessing.
