    Please play this and give me feedback

    Okay, so I started creating a game called Squares and I want to know how I'm doing. Please play this and give me any feedback - positive or negative.

    In Squares there are currently five modes: Normal (dodge the squares), Vertical (Normal Mode turned 90 degrees), SHMUP (shoot the squares), Catch (Catch the green squares while avoiding blue ones) and Coordination (control two circles at one)
    Includes High Scores that can be cleared.
    If you don't trust the file, then don't post and don't download it.

      If WC's right, instead of using the arrow keys to move the ball, perhaps you could have it be like one of those follow-the-path games where the ball moves as your cursor does.

      In SHMUP mode, you could even borrow from that classic game of Crystal Quest (your circle fires in the direction it's moving).

        @WC The squares fall faster in Normal Mode than every other mode. I don't know why. I set vspeed = 1 for all of them (and Vertical Mode hspeed = 1), but I still don't know why the squares fall faster in Normal Mode than every other mode.

          By the sound of the complaints, and the vspeed variable you are talking about a game maker game.

              I suggest you just learn something like C++ or a real Programming Language. GML is the most broken language I have ever played with.

              edit: OK. Gave it a chance. The game plays just like any Generic GM Game, Dodge things and try not to let the ridiculous collision make you die. The Menu screen is cheesy, the buttons are nice. Some of the buttons are not aligned properly so that makes it look less professional. The Explosions off the Squares are generic. I'd like it if you would make 3 of them and find a way to make a random number choose which explosion will be set off to give variety. Like WC said though, the speed of the squares and the speed of the circle gives me the impression of dodge the bomb when you're a slow moving jackass.

              3/10. Work on the graphics, but more importantly work on the gameplay.

              edit2: just realized I forgot something. Double the speed of the bullets on the SHMUP mode. Please. For the love of all games.

                C# XNA is really good for making games imo, I'm making one in it right now for university

                  I'll try, but I'm normally too lazy to make explosion sprites. I'll find something with particles instead.

                  Well, that's why I'm adding more games modes to it, so it's not as generic.
                  If you're just going to post telling me to use another programming language, then please, don't post. I want feedback on the game, not what I'm using to make it.
