Thats not even the rule though. People are discussing impossibilities. Like no video walk throughs? The law doesn't even apply to something that isn't worth 2,500$. This is more of an annoyance bill amendment then it is some sort of soul crushing piece of legislation.

To use your example, its more like a thread that discusses Bill gates never making an OS where the first post is "BILL GATES NEVER MADE AN OS!!!!!!"

I suppose, but if the bill is in the hands of people and they are THINKING about doing it then it's not impossible, thus up for debate.

By impossible I mean people claiming things that the bill doesn't even say. Not girls singing songs, not parodies, not video walkthroughs or 99% of youtube. There will not be a team of lawyers roaming the streets with weaponized briefcases. This is... basically, a change in term for digital mediums of criminal, NOT CIVIL, copyright infringement to have the same effect of tangible ones.

Additionally, 17 U.S.C. § 506(a)(2) states that, “evidence of reproduction or distribution of a copyrighted work, by itself, shall not be sufficient to establish willful infringement of a copyright.” In other words, merely posting an infringing video to YouTube can’t serve as the sole basis for proving you intended to violate copyright law.

Guess I didn't read it properly.
Though I did see something along those lines in there. :P

There should be a bill that just targets AMVs with Linkin Park, Evanescence, and 009 Sound System songs.

If this does get passed as stated before companies will make things more flexable through their ToS. This is more for stuff like websites that stream a whole TV series they pirated for free. I agree with anti-piracy laws and laws (if done correctly) to outlaw those kinds of streaming sites, not to say that I don't do all that stuff anyway. Intellectual property is legitimate property.

They don't have the manpower to enforce such a law if passed, it would more likely be a select random few who are actually punished to set a standard that is meant to scare people

I really really really don't think this bill is ever going to get off of the ground, but I already signed the Demand Progress petition that arrived in my e-mail inbox, just to be safe.

                    If..., then...

If you are a musical artist afraid of going bankrupt because everyone is stealing your music online, then QUIT ****ING KIDDING YOURSELF AND REALIZE THAT MUSIC IS A HOBBY AND NOT SUBSTANTIAL FOR EVERY DAY LIFE.

If you are a film maker spending millions of dollars on hiring people to act, generate special effects, hold cameras, etc, then QUIT ****ING KIDDING YOURSELF AND REALIZE THAT FILMS ARE A HOBBY AND NOT SUBSTANTIAL FOR EVERY DAY LIFE.

If you are a video game creator spending millions of dollars on graphics engines and monopolizing the gaming industry, charging $50 for the shittiest game of the year, then QUIT ****ING KIDDING YOURSELF AND REALIZE THAT VIDEO GAMES ARE A HOBBY AND NOT SUBSTANTIAL FOR EVERY DAY LIFE.

Copyright's were created solely for the purpose of maximizing profit off of non-material goods. That is BULLSHIT. Why would you even pay for something that does not contribute to your well-being? Copyright Laws are capitalism at its absolute lowest. Utopian society has no room for this bullshit.

                        Yes, and no.
Creators deserve to be compensated for their works, but what we have going on is greed in its purest form. Even if we take piracy completely out of the equation, bands and artists are getting 5-10% of the profits of their albums, at best. It's a little better for games and movies, but music is the biggest on YouTube. Go to YouTube and type in just one letter in the search bar, the suggested keywords are always at least 1/3 musical in nature.
