    I don't think the relationships would end up the same. I believe that the time spent at distance kinda forces the couple to get to know each other more than if they lived close. So I think they end up knowing each other better by starting the relationship that way.

        This is a very common opinion but in my experience it just isn't true at all. It may be true for some people who try to intentionally hide some aspects of their personality online, with negative aspects coming out later IRL. But if both people try to honestly communicate and be as open as possible it's very possible to get to know someone well online, or learn to hate them online ~ It will only extend the honeymoon in the physical sense
