It's all preference, really. I prefer Call Of Duty: Black Ops, myself, but if people enjoy the older games, then to each their own.

what most fps games lack nowadays is raw gameplay. the simplicity of the game and potential to get really good from practicing strats and spam spots in cs maps was what made 1.6 awesome. the feel of the game overall is better, the gun handling more fluent, faster and the aiming isn't bothered by stupid details such as mouse acceleration and stupid irl influences (fatigue while running, split vision/blur while flashed, etc.)

I think that's the main issue with fps games these days. too much detail and less raw gameplay

LJRox: You're so incredibly biased it's unbelievable and you're being a biggot. I've invested many hours into both CS, CSS, and MW1-2, and I can tell you I enjoy MW1-2 FAR more than CS. Sure, you might like CS more and I can completely understand why. The community is far better, and other point you've brought up is right too, but MW has far more realistic physics, and completely different gameplay. The graphics are also nicer which is defiantly another reason as to why I like it more but the way people talk about it make it seem like if a game has good graphics it must be shit because the "games bak in da day" were good and didn't need good graphics. Not everybody obviously likes what makes MW different than CS so they'll end up playing CS, I'd be just as retarded as you shithead elitists if I didn't think so.

we're bringing up points as to why cs is better in our opinion, no need to get all butthurt. if you look at big gaming tournaments, the main fps has consistently been cs 1.6 (eswc, wcg, cpl, esl, esea, etc) and the largest prizes are usually in the same game.

Valve is a shining gem in the rancid cesspool of the video game industry.

When is the last time they did something wrong? I can usually name something recent a dev/publisher has done to make people mad, but Valve's recent record seems conspicuously impeccable.

Valve time doesn't really bother me, to be honest. I'd rather extremely good games be released late than broken terrible games that hardly work be released on time.
