What a way to be nice to the new members, guys. >_>
However, Stefffa, this forum is all about arguing and is full of people (including myself) who like to argue. Don't post if you're not prepared to be told by someone that you're wrong.

Back on topic: So we've covered the hardware and software advantages and disadvantages about the Mac OS. What about from a developers point of view? In the past, there were nasty licensing fees in place for developers, supposedly to control the software environment so that all software was of good quality. I don't know exactly when Apple lifted these restrictions (200X?), but now there are good tools available to develop software on a Mac. Not to mention that software developed on a Mac would naturally convert to iPhone better.

I bought a Macbook after reading this thread. jk xD
But seriously, who wants to pay $1500 for half-eaten apple logo? Why not a full apple logo?
In my opinion, custom-built is the way to go for any purpose.
Limiting what you need/don't need is a major plus in CB computers.
My computer just has a nice soundcard and everything else is crap lmao.

you guys know you can still right click on mac desktops and laptops right?

op is kinda cool, when i go to build my next box itll For Sure be pc. i was on that anti-mac concept for years. a few years back tho i was looking for a laptop for school, and my parents would only buy a New one and i wasnt feeling vista and finding a solid xp joint was impossible so they got me a macbook. for school, ps, music, online poker, other stuff, it has been great. its durable, ive spilled crazy amounts of Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice, Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice, MinuteMade Lemonade, Orange Gatorade, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Aristocrat Vodka, Tanqueray Gin and tonic, Water, Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, Coca Cola, Jarritos Pina, Fanta, and more on the keyboard and ya some of the keys are a bit sticky, the P pops off every now and then, and the delete key is long gone, but hey it still works.

took awhile to get used to not being able to play cs but whatever. long story short macbooks are solid but when it comes to Solid Desktops - buying an imac is something you should never do unless you work in music production, graphic design or something similar

This was years ago. Many of those top companies used to be Mac exclusive. Wait.... used to be. The argument is near invalid nowadays.

                    Custom Built > Mac > Linux > Windows Xp > Windows 7 > Windows 95 > Windows Vista

In order of practicality due to price/most people are computer illiterate:

Windows 7 > Windows XP > Mac > Custom Built > Windows Vista > The rest > Linux

In order of what people who are computer illiterate and still have to worry about price:

Custom Built > **** everything else.

Because as a Macfag, I think I'm allowed to say this. Yea, I like a Mac. No, I'm not ignorant to it's flaws. Yes, I'd still prefer a custom built any day of the week. It's called "better performance than anything you could buy packed in a box." That's usually how **** works.

@person who said "what don't you get about convenience" *in regards to right clicking*

Do you know how much **** you have to configure on Windows to even get it to run smoothly half the time?

I'd also like to point out that LOLWindows is behind by quite a few years in things that came on Macs. I'll look for the video that completely makes fun of this. (Windows is 3 years late to the party, Mac's been there done that already...)

Uhhh.... Almost nothing? Just turn off UAC. W7 runs 100% smoothly for me. I'm pretty sure you're just pulling loads of shit out of your ass. You have to be an absolute dumbass to fuck up a windows machine.

"Oh, just my cock." Replied Foil.
"That just will not do." was keywii's response as she lunged for the scissors, pulled the blades apart, and clamped them down on the base of foil's shaft. Blood start gushing out of the wound where his penis used to be.
                          "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Yelled Foil in horror.
"Don't worry. I'm a wizard" uttered Keywii. And with that, Foil's penis grew back.

yeah who the **** decided UAC was a good idea in it's Vista form? Seriously.

On the subject of Macs (MacBooks specifically) and right clicking. Here are some ways you can 'right-click':

                            two finger touchpad press
                            control-click
I think you can set the bottom right hand of the touchpad to right click

The problem with all of these methods is that they are all balls. Control click sucks, two finger press is better but often unresponsive, and the third method would be awesome if there was a clearly defined boundary that told you where the right-clicking area began and ended (SUCH AS A SEPARATE BUTTON HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM) but it doesn't because the new touchpad is beyond ****ty.

I never thought I'd see the day where I wanted the one-button shtick back, but having no buttons is so bad goddamn I have never gotten over this.

I have no idea why but this made me LOL.

But seriously, to that guy earlier, you don't have to configure a whole lot to get Windows running. Maybe disable UAC, like others have said, and you're fine. Unless you go around installing a bunch of buggy software/drivers all over the place and bloating your machine with a bunch of crap, Win7 runs just fine.
