Not wanting to offend this community...

I've been here for a long time and all and really love this site and don't know what I'd do without it, but there is a little thing that I think the community as a whole needs to work on. I'm terribly sorry if I offend any one, that is not my intention.

The FFR community seems to not notice people who aren't popular in the community. I've been on a lot of forums where I randomly post in some thread and people would actually respond to me or something. I've found that, unless I am the OP, no one ever answers my questions or even notices my posts. Recently and back in the day. This pertains to a lot of users, not just me.

This community seems to not welcome unpopular people very well, I am NOT saying that they're rude to them, they are not rude in any way, but I think they should give them a little more attention.

Again, sorry if I offended anyone.

Being popular on the internet? Hmmm..... I'm not even popular in real life :O
Well, the more you know a someone, the more comfortable they are talking to them, right? So...... if you get to know people they'll talk to you. I dunno :P

You've made 15 posts in the entire time the site has been back up, out of less than 100 total posts.. Several were posts in threads that don't actually have conversation in them (What did you get for Christmas, What are your pet peeves) and several were OPs. You've made -maybe- 5 posts in the middle of threads that have conversation happening, and several have been directly responded to.

In that same time, I've made 320 posts, and despite my account existing for 3 full years before I posted, and despite the one full year of downtime, my average post output across the full nearly 7 years would output your number of posts in the pasts 2.5 months in 5 days.

Actually, I think the community here is okay on some levels, and people noticed me back when I had like 10 posts and no scores.

You just came across the wrong people on FFR I guess. Nevertheless, I don't think people DIDN'T respond to me when I asked questions when I was "not famous" - it's a matter of you being more involved I guess.. because I don't recall people purposely ignoring one another or ignoring "newbies" on FFR.

And FFR has never been that way, and never will be.

I'm not saying you purposely ignore people. It's just, I'm used to another forum that I frequent constantly and everyone gets a response. I recall in a post, I asked a simple question that pertained to the topic and no one bothered to answer me. Also Devonin, I am talking other people as well, not just me.

Like I said before, I am not saying anything bad about this community, I'm just saying that if you're not a part of the crowd that frequents the forum constantly then you don't get much attention.

So what you're saying is that if you aren't around a lot, very active, and taking part in the community, you aren't being treated as though you are?

That's how it should be. If every single post made by everyone got a direct response from everyone else, the forum would collapse under worthless spam posts.

Of course some posts will be ignored/unnoticed. It's a forum, there's 1000 of posts daily.
Some of them are bound to be ignored. I doubt there are many people who would deliberately ignore a post because the one asking the question is a "newb".

But as with any site, there are cliques that form. FFR is actually an extremely tight knit group. I'm sorry if you feel left out, but it really is just a matter of time of how much time you put onto the site. The more you are active and reach out to people, the more they will do the same to you. Eventually, people will start recognizing your username as a regular. As with everything, you just need to work for it. I'm sure that once you do, you will fit right in. :]

A lot of posts I make are often not responded to, and I don't expect all of my posts to be responded to. A lot of posts I make I expect just to be read. It's not about post count or how long you've been here, it's all about whether anybody is compelled to respond to your post.

                      .
This. because I joined FFR like 3 weeks ago and to be honest I have really enjoyed being a part of the community. I was recognized by some great players like OHN^, dossar, TC-halgoen (he actually spent some of his time giving me advice on how to SDG Reality and etc..) I've actually been getting attention from pretty much everyone. And considering the fact that I'm totally new (member for 0.09 years) I don't think anyone is being unattentive, as Devonin said

I've also made a lot of friends in here, especially during Noisy's tourney. And the scores I posted on the FFR Scores thread were actually acknowledged. I love this community.

Re: Not wanting to offend this community...

You've recieved 10 different posts from 8 different people now talking about the subject you're interested in discussing. If the FFR community ignored newbs, there wouldn't be any.

Not all posts get responded to, not all posts should be responded to. This forum is very large and has a ton of posts coming through it at all times, so don't expect to get feedback on everything. The other forum you're regular to might have a smaller userbase, allowing for a more responsive community.

Re: Not wanting to offend this community...

I rarely post in forums. I prefer to read what others have to say. I used to post more, way back when, and I always felt recognized as much as I should be. I think it is pretty simple. If your post is worth responding to, it will be responded to. If not, people will, more or less, overlook it. Overall, I think FFR has a great community. Try reading through threads more and seeing what is okay around here and what isn't. FFR is not going to be like the other forum you visit. The people are different, and what gets acknowledged will be as well.

Devonin pretty much summed it up.

                              This is what I'm thinking.

In total there are 63 users online :: 4 Registered, 1 Hidden and 58 Guests
                              We have 21309 registered users
It's just in that forum, every single post pretty much gets a response. It's actually mostly guests (you don't have to sign up to post) asking questions (as it's mostly an Ask For Help forum anyways) and regulars discussing, answering, and helping them. The General Chat forum is mostly regulars sharing interesting tidbits they find. It's just, I asked a simple question the other day and I don't see why anyone could at least take 5 seconds out of their life to answer it is all. :/

Believe me, I'm not complaining. Don't take this as a complaint, it was merely an observation. I see and understand the points made in this thread.

Another observation I wanted to point out from posting this. On this forum, threads usually get responded to within minutes, whereas the other forum, it'll take a few hours to get a response from anybody. The other does indeed have a smaller userbase, it's not designed around a game, so users don't come on and stay, they merely come on at certain times to help and share interests.
