Re: College/University??
I love economics (;If you're in a situation where any of these things are a constant, lingering worry -- it's harder to be happy. You may be lucky enough to have a loving circle of friends/family/a fun career that helps offset any given lacking attribute, but ultimately, having enough money to grease the wheels is what gets the job done. Everything past that point has diminishing marginal returns.
EDIT: 1+ for foil
EDIT 2: I don't think it's required to have a good math background in the programming field. It's definitely an upper hand though. Plus I'm sure one of the reasons why comp sci majors are required to take math classes is to simply test your ability to apply logic to related fields. Just my opinion.Last edited by iironiic; 11-8-2010, 08:04 PM.Comment

Re: College/University??
my bad, I thought you had implied this.
consumerism isn't required to have fun, man. I agree that saving up boatloads of money for retirement is overrated though.
it depends on just what you're programming. geometry is fairly irrelevant as far as I know. if you struggle with math then that could be a roadblock, but it can certainly be overcome. the sooner you get started, the better.Comment

Re: College/University??
ya bro i'll see u pioneering alternative energy technology in a coupla years with all your knowledge about physics u obtained from the streetsYeah man, people here are smart, I'm just saying no one gives me credibility because I "don't look like I can do it", so when people question me it gets under my skin.
I have plenty of corporate connections, but I don't want to get a white collar job like that, I am a self made man and will continue to be.
Most people can't do that, but I can. I can read body language better than anyone I know, and it really helps me in the situations I come across.
I literally could get ANY job if I wanted to, but I love what I do more than anything, so it's what I do.
And as far as the whole 15 year old stud thing goes, I don't go out and fool around as much as possible, but whenever I try, I score. I don't like shallow people at allComment

Re: College/University??
I think all you would need to know for game design is c#, c++ and direct x API's as well as having used visual studio and understanding the general idea of working with a team of people on a project.
Woops, we are on a new page.Comment

I know none of that stuff, haha.

Re: College/University??
You don't have to have in-depth knowledge about actual coding if you want to only study game design.Comment

Re: College/University??
Game design is a pretty broad term. You can actually design layouts/ideas/integrations/interfaces/art/etc without doing any actual coding.Comment
