Re: So I got a virus...
I'd agree that 99% of viruses are written for windows and therefore wouldn't work on a mac. Mac avoids a lot of problems like viruses by limiting the things you are able to do to your own operating system. You have no control over your PC and there you go. Virus resistant OS.Comment

Right. You can "do less" with a Mac in the form of geek-related material, but as someone who doesn't really care and just wants to laugh his head off when an .exe files comes through unannounced, it works for me.I'd agree that 99% of viruses are written for windows and therefore wouldn't work on a mac. Suit yourself. You'd have to be pretty dumb to get a virus on windows by executing an exe.
If an exe was being download to your PC the minimal of UAC settings would inform you. And after that you'd have to double click it yourself even though you didn't know what it was and it was probably labled like wer65.exe
Most viruses aren't really harmful and aren't received by downloading executable. But if you just want to use a computer to browse facebook and play with pictures and not really do any work or play games then I'd use a mac to.Comment

more like if you want a computer that runs stable with graphic design programs, doesn't get viruses from your customer's pen drives, allows you to manage efficiently a graphic studio, then i'd use a mac. in fact, i use a mac.

Re: So I got a virus...
This is pretty inaccurate. When I go into a Mac store, I go on a computer, open up terminal, and since by default you're on the root account when you're set up as admin (which most people are), and there's no password for it anyway so you can tell the computer you're admin in the command line, I simply type in:I'd agree that 99% of viruses are written for windows and therefore wouldn't work on a mac. rm -rf /*
OS X now needs to be re-installed to work properly. I can embed a shell script into a picture and have it run when you open it, and if you're already on the root account, it'll happen. OS X really isn't secure rather than not many people caring to mess it up. The OS X Terminal is the same as BSD UNIX's pretty much, and you can do just as much on it, just running on a different kernel and some other restrictions, but the OS is still pretty flexible compared to Windows.
Also IMO about if you're just going on Facebook and stuff...obligatory convert people to using Ubuntu post as it is REALLY good for stuff like this by being as secure as hell while not having to configure anything. Don't even have to install drivers.Comment

HA HA HA OH WOW
Listen to this advice. It'll save you
a)Cash
b)Time
c)Sanity
d)**** Apple
Mac- less virus prone, dumbed down interface, ****ty tech support, more durable casing on laptops, less software support, etc.Originally posted by this pageMaC vS pC wAt Do?!?!?!
Windows- HOLY **** VIRUSES EVERYWHERE...UNLESS YOU'RE A DUMBASS, Customizable interface with a few VERY SIMPLE hacks, Gaming ('nuff said), more software to download, can run mac programs with a few quick hacks, etc.
Linux- Can run p. much everything if you have any common sense what so ever, viruses are almost naught, FULLY customizable with NO hacks, great for hacking ****, free, etc.Last edited by t-rogdor; 12-15-2009, 09:26 PM.Originally posted by cetakaI saw a flyer on a bulletin board at school asking for high-functioning aspergers/autism people to participate in some kind of experiment, and all I could think was, that sounds like a great place to meet girls.Comment
