Linux has an alternative for EVERYTHING. You can game on Linux using WINE if you have a while to configure it or Cedega if you want to spend $30/yr (Still cheaper than Windows really unless you pirate it), and it gets a better performance. It just can't run every game, which is why I have it. Plus compatability doesn't have anything to do with the OS rather than what OS the program was compiled for. I'd rather do all I can on an OS that isn't bloated to **** and has a **** ton of problems with it, and I can do everything I want to besides newer games.Last edited by fido123; 10-26-2009, 02:39 PM.Comment

You obiously don't know a thing about Linux. If I want to install for example Firefox on Ubuntu if it didn't already come with it. I could do one of two things. Go into terminal and type "$sudo apt-get install firefox", or go to Applications --> Software Center, type in firefox, then click install. Don't even have to open my browser. The server used to download this stuff are ungodly fast, and things install godly fast as well on a Linux system. Beats hunting for a .exe then following on screen instructions while it tries to shove bloat ware you don't want on you like some ****ty yahoo toolbar for IE.Comment

You have some extreme exaggeration of windows issues. I know it has some problems, but I have never experienced anything like you are describing. It isn't good to be so horribly biased like that. You'll start looking for problems to get into.

i dont want to have to type **** just to install something. i dont want to configure **** just so i can play casual games. i dont want to pay 30 dollars a month(which might i add over time ends up costing more than windows but i dunno my addition might be off somewhere). and you make it sound like installing stuff on windows is hard. you download the .exe from the internet double click next next next done.

Ubuntu 9.10 is using Empathy, plus there are like over 5 clients you can use. You also don't have to type anything out to install something, you can use the software ceter. You don't ever have to use Terminal if you don't want to. I know it's not hard running an .exe, but finding that .exe is sometimes hard. Easier just to have a program search a pre-loaded respository for you. Also that's the exact reason I duel boot Windows, I still don't like Windows though.
EDIT: Terminal is just so when you do know bash, you can do things in a fraction of the time. Plus seperating the GUI from the Command line is what makes Linux so retardly stable. Get laid as often as you restart your computer and I'm a vergin ;DLast edited by fido123; 10-26-2009, 03:57 PM.Comment
