I made my signature I think. If that looks kinda decent, I can try something. I'm not one of those pro ps gfx who major in graphic design though.
Just look up photoshop tutorials, apply an abusive amount of styles until it looks good.

i use cs3 extended, it does the job

as for advice, just keep playing around with everything until you get a feel for every effect and alteration, then just apply those to text and background
