I think quick wireless file sharing would be cool. Say two people had phones with a memory card, you could be right next to eachother and send files for free.

Maybe connecting to wifi then. I know the iphone can connect to wifi, but I dont think normal phones can. They can sometimes connect to the internet, but it costs a ****ton.
Projection screens, laser keyboards, bluetooth credit cards (kinda like that touch and go credit crap), Multi-user video conferencing, realtime GPS, 15MP camera WITH A GOD DAMN FLASH, camera phones never have a flash...an internet system capable of cable-like speeds, thumbprint security pad, garage door opener, tv remote, and I want the battery to last more than 10 days before needing to be recharged.

I would like to see what other people are thinking after two years. I'm happy to say that I was pretty spot on with my call for the "future of wireless".
I'm not really thinking anything ground breaking will be done anytime soon aside from pretty much putting a computer into your phone. Technology seems to be moving quickly towards smaller and smaller devices with more and more power...
Nfc chips in every phone and everything ever. Google has me sold on this and I can see how useful it can be. Also the Google wallet which I'm excited about.
Basically what WC said.
I jumped on the google bandwagon a few days ago and so far, my life has been a lot cooler.
but it looks like the biggest "trend" in wireless is ****ing tiered data plans.
T-Mobile is merging with AT&T, which means R.I.P. Data only plans, T-Mobile's badass customer support, and hello to a network that is 2x the size, but just as shitty. Not to mention, that would mean only 3 major nationwide cell carriers.
Oh, and AT&T has tiered data plans.
Yeah.
And guess who's switching to tiered data?
Verizon.
Come next month, Sprint will be the only nationwide cell carrier (in the US) with unlimited data plans.
I mean, there's boost as well, but who the shit uses boost?
The main reason that the carriers are switching to tiered data is that we are rapidly becoming a culture that constantly consumes data. Why 4G speeds? Because WE NEED ALL THE DATA ASAP MAN............................... But what is the point of 4G if we're going to have to constantly ****ing worry about going over our limit?
faster data consumption + data caps =$$$ for the carriers
not to mention, by announcing that they're switching to tiered data plans, they draw in a metric ****LOAD of new customers who think "oh man i need to get unlimited while I can" and then those people are, in a way, stuck with that carrier due to not wanting to lose unlimited data. Especially someone like myself who lives in an area where Sprint has really shitty 3G coverage.
tl;dr new trend is greed o wait that's an old trend
[/rant]
oh wait I just realized that this only really applies to the US, which basically makes this rant totally worthless to anyone outside of this horrifically moronic country nevermindeigaaeoighjaehiogjaoiagekeahyi4-hjkrapohjprahokaehoae'khaehjae;haeajhoijahgepijpeoghjepohjepogjaphojaep
I saw a flyer on a bulletin board at school asking for high-functioning aspergers/autism people to participate in some kind of experiment, and all I could think was, that sounds like a great place to meet girls.
