The reason it's being displayed in the media as it is I think is because of Spanish Influenza. At first, Spanish Influenza affected those who were extremely young or extremely old (lack of a strong immune system). It then mutated into a disease that started killing young, healthy people (which wiped out 20-50 million people). Swine Flu CAN mutate, considering it went from pigs to humans, and is now airborne; hence the fact that we're trying to keep it contained, so it doesn't somehow mutate. And yeah, we are prepared for it, just taking precautions because of mistakes in 1918..

Egypt isn't doing a single thing about the virus by slaughtering every pig in the country.

It would be more effective to slaughter every human in the country if they were so worried about controlling an outbreak.

They're slaughtering pigs all over the place, and it's ridiculous. Everyone is freaking out here and schools are closing. Personally I don't think it's a big deal. It would only be a big deal if it were actually more life threatening than the seasonal flu, or if it mutated... I'm sure this has been said but people die of the seasonal flu all the time. This is dumb. Just take normal precautions, maybe a face mask. Not that they do much. You don't have to ****ing close planes off going to mexico and close schools. What a load of hogwash. lolpun

The Pennsylvania State Departement of Health has declared three new probable cases of swine flu in the commonwealth.

According to a press release e-mailed this afternoon, one 31-year-old male in Montgomery County, one 25-year-old male in Philadelphia County and one 46-year-old female in Philadelphia County may have contracted the disease.
