On second thought, a Jewish Day of Silence would be completey wrong. I can't think of any times where the Jews were forced into silence for their religion. Just murdered. But, nobody's had a holocaust for gays. The gay community really gets persecuted by their peers and environment. More of a public humiliation thing, rather than being slaughtered. So, a Jewish Day of Silence wouldn't really fit the Day of Silence stand point. I think. I could be wrong.

Did this at my high school, it was actually pretty organized, and there was a party for the people who did it afterwards lol

Not sure if I'll do it here on campus though, considering April 17 is when fraternity pledge requirements are due

Well, there were numbers of homosexuals killed during the holocaust in WWII, but their numbers were dwarfed by the massacres of the Jewish. Also, since homosexuality wasn't much of a national issue in that time period, there wasn't much reaction to that portion of the holocaust.

Its a mental discrimination, and you can't ''force'' a mind to change. As far as legal issues go protest works, but not because you are changing their opinion.. it works for the sake of profit or general approval that would be reduced otherwise...

Once again I'll bring up the topic of African-Americans. Go back in time to 1840 or even 1920, and ask most white Americans, they'll tell you that black people do not measure to white people. In recent decades, this opinion changed, and it is now considered wrong to discriminate against black people.

However, in the case of African-American discrimination, it took about a century to get full attention. That may be the same case with the homosexuality issue, depending on how society decides to respond.

Personally, I don't see homosexuals being generally considered equal by the majority to society in at least the next two decades.

If you want to express your opinions/beliefs against homosexuality, I'm fine with that. But spewing this kind of nonsense is ignorant and makes you look nothing short of a fool.

I fully respect the people who choose to live those lifestyles but I respect them as people. I will not be participating because I do not condone the lifestyles they live. I do not support homosexuality in any form, nor trans-sexuality. I do not have a problem with them as people and I do not think they deserve to be treated poorly, but I simply don't condone the actions they have taken.

The point of participating though is to try to get the message out there that you shouldn't treat people with alternative sexualities different. You don't have to agree, that's simply you're opinion and as long as it's educated and you're still open minded, I thank you even if it conflicts with mine. Point is, you don't have to agree with the lifestyle, but do you agree with the idea they shouldn't be bashed or treated like sub-humans?

Personally I won't be doing this. I go to a Christian school, and there are a lot of ignorant people there. Plus I'm still in the closet and on thin ice as my friends say I act really gay @_@

I support homosexuality because everyone has a natural right to love whoever they want to. Another reason religion is ridiculous is because these groups think they have the right to tell people what to do and what not to do and what is right and what is wrong, taking away peoples' natural liberties and freedoms. Since when has love ever been harmful? Never. Love is a beautiful thing, and just because someone wants to love someone of their own gender doesn't make it wrong. Gay people should have the freedom to experience something as wonderful as love just as straight people do, and alienating them for something they do not have control over (because they don't) is inexcusable. It's comparable to how it was illegal for a black and a white person to marry. Is the color of your skin important when it comes who you're allowed to love? No. Is your sexual preference important when it comes to who you're allowed to love? No.

I fully support this cause but I don't participate in the act. I don't think anyone will know or understand my viewpoint if I don't say something about it. gl with it though

I understand the cause, and I certainly don't condone violence over sexual preference. Yet I can't help but that this creates more alienation than it solves. I won't be participating because I don't think you can change someones hardheaded opinion with a single action, almost seems pointless to me.
