The myth about it doing something on April 1st is I belive simply becuase, the worm is set to recieve its next instuctions on April 1st.

I think SpySweeper and my Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition would likely have terminated the worm long ago if I ever had it. Both of those programs stay up-to-date regularly, with SpySweeper often popping up in the middle of me doing something and lagging me to death.
Anyways, I usually don't get spyware/malware, but I still feel safe, and I never really gave Conficker a lot of credit to begin with. I don't think it hurts anyone to err on the side of caution, but some of the fear is a little misplaced.

Fear of what the virus might do next had spread round the world as April 1 approached — the date when Conficker was scheduled to use local-time clocks to change programming. No one knows who created the virus or what they intend to do with the vast network of infected machines they, in theory, now control.
The Conficker virus started spreading late last year. At first it was a relatively simple worm, but its creators issued updates turning it into a more sophisticated and resilient virus that has found new ways to spread. It has also gained the ability to shut down a computer's defenses.

Back on topic, from what I understand this worm is targeting most of the western half of the world. For the most part people are worrying over nothing. I believe the worm would target businesses rather than home computers.

It does not matter where the hell you obtain news from, so long as you, the individual reading said news, are able to discern whether or not what you're reading is bull****. If you can do that much, then it should not matter at all where you pick up your news from. If you can't do that, then yeah, you're likely to form an opinion about the news sources available to you.
Articles from FOXNews are equally as bad as they are from any other news conglomerate. No one station is better than the other. Now kindly get back on ****ing topic. Thank you.

Way to sensationalize sensational journalism you giant hypocrite. This is also so wrong on so many levels I can't even begin to explain how horrified and disgusted I am. Get the **** off the internet and go outside and get some ****ing clue about what's going on in the real world.
A lot of content for news sites comes from Reuters, or the AP, so I'd say that the sources are generally the same. The websites may decide to feature some differing content, but overall, I'd say the vast majority of information coming down the tubes to us is from mostly similar sources.

I could just as easily say that CNN or MSNBC is notorious for inaccurate reporting as well. I'm of the mind that news stations are allowed to make mistakes, but if FOXNews does nothing but disseminate false information as you seem to indicate, then by all means, show me the light.
