It does make you wonder what genetic extremes allow for.. maybe it's possible for a fast-developing child to become impregnated at age 2 or 3.. frightening prospect.

This article isn't just about that particular couple, it really shows how this problem is in general. Do you think it's alright for people 14 and under to be sexually active and breeding? For that matter, anyone in high school? Or incapable of raising a child? Are people becoming desensitized to this, in our civilized, and relatively affluent society? They shouldn't be. This is a real problem. You seeing it often around your schools is even more cause to be concerned about it.

I don't want to get into the finer points of this, but the article is justified. The story is ridiculous, and you're right, it is stupid. But the point isn't to say "oh girl's ugly oh boy's small." You're supposed to talk about the issue. No it isn't a miracle, or a tragedy, but it isn't gossip either. It's bringing the issue up again, for everyone to see. Not all people are in highschool, surrounded by pregnant bimbos. Some people need a reality check again. THIS is a reality check.

How are we supposed to prevent these things from happening?

it is true that people need to know about these types of things in order to learn from other people's mistakes. however i still stongly feel that this does not deserve to be a front cover story. its sick exploitation. i mean imagine that infant might grow up to be known for the cover he was on just because the magazine wanted to rake in some cash. its just not an ethical decision by the magazine in my opinion.

And what is considered news-worthy in the first place? Does it really have to be a rare occurrence? It's the responsibility of the media to consider what it collectively reports - what is reported influences understanding of what is happening in the world. This is why I hate TV news; there's sensationalized violence, with robberies, drug busts, shootings, fires, and suicides, but there's not nearly enough positive stuff to balance it, so that influences the perceptions of the people watching into believing that there is little good in the world, and therefore apathy is the best road to take instead of getting involved in the community and trying to change things around them.

I wouldn't say that the Sun is a high profile news source, but diversity is important as well. This story may be common, but I'd hardly say that it's unjustified simply because it's happened before. Light needs to be shed on this to bring it to peoples' attention, and once it's in the public consciousness maybe things can change because people will see a need to do something about it. If it has to ride the disgusting media circus train to get there, so be it.

i think the only condition this story meets is human interest
which is in my opinion the least important part of news from an ethical standpoint
it is however a very important part from a financial standpoint
"sensationalized" is a good word to describe what i feel is happening to this story

The thing that I don't get is that if you are seriously going to have sex at the age of twelve, have you really not had sex education classes? We had sex ed classes in fourth grade in my school at least. So I knew what a condom was at that point. It is already sad that we have to HAVE sex ed classes when we're about ten years old but even sadder that they're obviously not getting through to kids. To be honest I blame the media for our screwed up generation and how to most people, sex isn't a big deal and they have their minds set to believe that nothing bad will happen to them if they have sex unprotected.

Also, this kid ****ing looks like he's six years old. How did he even manage to penetrate her?

Conclusion: The entire world is screwed.

Yeah, really. I don't get how these two kids didn't know about the consequences of having unprotected sex. If you're going to have sex at the age of twelve, ffs at least don't be an idiot and do it without a condom.

Thats pretty sad. They should be forced to give it up for adoption because there is no chance that they will be able to provide for the kid or even take care of it correctly. The kid dosnt even know what funds are!

That is insane. I think the boy is so confused that he doesn't know how to run away from the problem yet. I feel it's mainly the parents fault for not having "the talk" with him.. he didn't know the circumstances of sex, they only had it once. D: Osh.... kids these days.

Well, given that welfare is pretty conductive in allowing low IQ individuals to reproduce more than high IQ ones who put off having children due to economical constraints (school), the scenario is sadly, not nearly as funny as the movie >_>;



Anyway, yeah, this is pretty scary. It's strange to think about how someone this young having a child would have been entirely normal if we go back in history, but given how much society has changed, it has no place anymore. These kids do not have the means of supporting a child properly.

These types of things shouldn't be happening. Clearly **** happens, and preventing this entirely just won't happen, but I have a feeling it's happening pretty often, and it's not fair to the children of these parents. The parents are not old enough to fully grasp the consequences of this. =/

NEW INFORMATION: just showed on the news, the 13 year old kid will be forced to have DNA tests after 7 other kids claim the baby could be theirs :O
