My camera got quite literally frozen.

So the other day, it was in my pocket when I was going to my friend's house. When I got there, it wasn't. I looked everywhere I could think of and realized it probably fell out when I was on the bus or walking to the stop. It was and still is really snowy, so I gave up and decided to save for a bigger, harder to lose camera. Anyway, I was shoveling the sidewalk today when I hit something metal (I had to stab through to get under the ice) and of course it's my camera, pretty much frozen in a block of ice ;_;. So when I thawed it it somehow still works and all that it can see are foggy blobs of color. It's not the screen, because it still displays pictures fine. I'm thinking that the CCD is fogged up. Has this happened to anyone else?

I've dropped my camera in the snow, along with my cell and various other electronics... but I've never had to thaw them out of ice blocks ;P

It's now less foggy but it's getting some xtreem motion blur, maybe the image stabilization is broken. And I'm going to take the battery and stuff out and leave it alone for a few days.

Get a phillips head, open it up, wise everything down with rubbing alcohol, close it, leave it for a few hours, use it.

You actually live near me also.

You wouldn't happen to go to Central, would you?

Turn on your oven to a decent temperature (not too hot, but hot enough to cause evaporation), and put the camera in it for about 10 minutes. This will probably get rid of the moisture inside; just make sure to take out the batteries before doing this.

(I've heard it works for people who get their cell phones drenched, etc., so it'll probably work for a camera.)

Anyway it's back to normal, I think not much water got into the camera. I would have taken it apart but I don't know if I'd get it back together. P.S. It's a PowerShot SD1100IS.
