If SM lags in vista then your computer is not new enough to even run vista. The reason people complain too much is because they try to install vista on old hardware. NO. If you have anything less than a 2GHz dual core, then walk away. And I mean 2Ghz is pushing the min too.

im pretty sure it's the OS along with hardware that causes SM problems on vista pcs. probably some video setting somewhere doing something. im a huge pc fan, but im honestly considering jumping on the mac bandwagon. vista was a big disappointment for me.

It's not that it's unplugged, it's that my router is a dinosaur and isn't Vista complient.

ya ok let me explain myself - first of all im a+ certified, and have been building computers for years. now if you really wanted some long winded analysis about a situation i really know nothing about then i could give you a load of bull**** filled with jargon that you probably wouldnt even understand. now my "some ... somewhere" statement was vague, true

I would get that CPU check thing, but I have to get a new router to be able to access the internet to downlaod it on my laptop.

I DID look at that built-in performance check. The base score I got was 3.1, and the other respective number scores were 4.7, 4.5, 3.1, 3.4, 5.3.

This is your problem.

My Vista score is 5.6 5.9 5.9 5.9 5.8 = 5.6

Now do you see why nothing lags? I built my computer to run things.

Ahahaha. You're insulting me because of the football team I like. That is really funny. I don't think anybody's really bothered trying that with me, because they realize it's going nowhere.

You do happen to have a point though, the Steelers' offensive line is terrible, and has resulted in the entire offense slowing down. Roethlisberger is a great quarterback, and the wide receivers and running backs are very talented. But it all comes down to the offensive line pass-blocking and opening up holes in the running game, and they don't do that much at all. So this upcoming draft had better have a few O-line acquesitions.

But really, was that supposed to make me upset?

Hmm, I really JUST got the laptop on Christmas, haven't installed anything and haven't had it exposed to the internet at all. Your's goes faster because of the hardware and customization, right? Which also means without correct hardware my laptop won't go as fast?

But DGK, you should look it up in google.
Google solves everything... Look up ways to make Vista run faster or something, i'm sure they will be able to explain if its possible or impossible. Doesn't hurt to try
But make sure it's nothing you don't feel comfortable with... you don't need you ruining a brand new laptop after a couple days!

Also Dood Gone Crazy, as far as my knowledge goes an OS can't be incompatible with a router. You're router if it's old runs 'g' waves or 'b' if it's really that old. Cards can read b,g, or n signals or any combination of those including all 3. Some routers like mine cal also emit all 3 signals. I suggest looking into your routers settings (Type in your default gateway into your browser) and seeing what your router is emitting, then checking what your card can receive...otherwise it's probably your configuration...it can be a bitch =/. You need to go to Start --> Connect To then right click your network and go to properties...make sure the Security profile is 100% accurate, you might want to disable security all together for starts.

I have a Belkin router and looked through what you suggest a long time ago. MY router is in the 6000 series, and apparently it goes up to like 8000 now. It said on the website that my very router was not Vista compliant.
