Spongebob, to me, is one of the best modern day cartoons. It carries along from older stuff like Rocko's Modern Life and Ren and Stimpy. Especially in some of the facial expressions. Hell, I laughed so hard in one episode when a huge "exposition" sign appeared above someone near the end, yet I know a lot of kids wouldn't understand it. Honestly, the show has so many levels.

pps how are the extra features on those box sets? I considered picking one of them up briefly but decided against it due to how much **** I still have to watch yet. I got Smallville seasons 1~5 for Christmas last year and I'm only just now getting through season 4.

I found season 1 and season 3 while living in France. They have various languages including English though, so it's fine.

pps how are the extra features on those box sets?

Not many extras to be honest. A couple of features about creatures of the sea (I think one has the French guy who does all the voice-overs) and sing-along with Spongebob in various languages. Apart from that you're looking at just the episodes.

EDIT: Also, Season 4 comes out on DVD November 3rd here.

Every single episode has a commentary. So that's something like 70 commentaries to watch. Not to mention they are actually pretty interesting commentaries. Along with other special features, some makings of, how to draw the characters, deleted scenes, etc.

That's the problem with buying them individually. You'll probably find that they'll bring out Spongebob Season 1-3 or something and it'll have commentaries and more special features.

Also, ya, Spongebob is awesome. I think the name of the episode is "Jellyfish Jam" but that one is one awesome episode. The one where Spongebob brings home a Jellyfish and they dance all night. The dance scene is like a drug-fuelled psychedelic trip.
