Micester's posts wanted to make me gouge my eyes out after the first few sentences. I wouldn't put up with such idiotic posting if I were a mod on said forums.

If you mess up grammar around here, you get shot and thrown in the trash.
Not all the time. FFR is way more lenient when it comes to grammar and spelling, at least by explosm's standards. If you've ever been to explosm forums the mods there are way more anal about spelling and grammar. If you don't believe me just check out their event log and count how many people are banned for 'dropping their dots' or capitalizing, punctuating, etc. They also ban without a second thought for any use of 'aolisms' like lol, rofl, etc.
This reminds me of the other day when I was in Combat Arms. Even in games, I type with good grammar and punctuation. One guy called me an "uptight bastard" and another called me an "old ingleshmen" (yes, that's how he spelled it).
*sigh*
I can understand a little paraphrasing in games, but there's simply no excuse on forums. Places like that are breeding grounds for unintelligence.
complaining about bad grammar doesn't make you seem any more intelligent ;-;
Complaining about horrid grammar doesn't make you seem less intelligent. Those people can help typing horrible. Grammar exists for a person to understand English easier than others. If one isn't so good at grammar, they will not be judged for trying, I don't think. But, it is obvious when you don't try at all. In fact, in this case, it was a deliberate grammar and spelling error, which makes it take longer to understand than reading a grammatically correct statement.
Grammar is mandatory in other forums I've seen before, because they see this decline in use of correct grammar outside of the internet. I believe they see that this use of "leet speak" elicits some use of poor grammar into the real world at times. Not only that, but forums are often used as a source of information. You should try to make yourself to be as clear as possible, correct? I, too, did not first understand why. I only started understanding after I read the book, "Eat, Shoots & leaves". Read it, and you'll understand why I say all this. Being uptight about grammar is better than being careless about grammar.

And the fact that half the posts in your typical Chit-Chat thread is "oMg FaIl" isn't helping our case.
Before coming here, I had sworn never to actively participate in a forum because the last one I posted at was filled with stupidity and repetition. Every single time I visited the forum, I would see the same thread and I would make the same response over and over again for over 2000 posts and it just wasn't very fun and a big waste of my time. However, when I first came to FFR, I was impressed that the threads here weren't completely stupid, different, and even funny.
Part of that was because grammar is mandatory here. When I read each of your posts, I give you a voice and I tend to read posts with terrible grammar with an idiot voice in my head. The way that I read your post will ultimately change the way I view your message and the meaning can be completely different from what you actually said. I do realize that not all posts with bad grammar are stupid and all posts with good grammar are smart, it does certainly help differentiating between the two.
