Drink some warm milk and read yourself a bedtime story.

EDIT: Yes, I have this problem. But I haven't had it recently, because I've been sick. Last night was the best ****ing sleep I've ever had. And I should know, I'm an insomniac too.

It's so weird you post this thread now, I was literally moments ago thinking about how I'm annoyed I am not asleep yet. Every time I go to close everything down and lie in bed I think of something to check on real quick and wind up sucked up in computer bull**** for another hour.

For me when I finally decide to sleep I refuse to reopen my eyes or get out of bed, but up until that point I keep thinking I might be missing out on something interesting. Like I'll pause what I'm watching real fast (computer arms reach from bed) and refresh the forums or something.

this time something interesting WAS happening yay shox no sleep

Facebook bores me too much, tonight I hunted down FRANKMUSIK tracks, reorganized my music folder, and looked at too many last.fm pages :<

[edit] @ hi_top, I was like that immediately before I think Senior year, went to bed at 8am day before school started, just try your hardest to not sleep the night before and power on through the first day on no sleep, nothing TOO important happens anyways first day, worked for me!

Unless you need to sleep at the night due to a day job or something, I don't see any problem with staying up all night / sleeping all day, eventually it'll balance itself back to sleeping at night, and by then you'll most likely be able to sleep just fine.

I've had this issue for years - I even got prescribed Seroquel because of it.

If this is recent, you might be able to stop it in it's tracks - lie in bed, pay attention to the silence, and try and tune out. It took me months to master this - but it helped an issue I never thought I could fix (though, I still have sleep issues..just not as bad).

I would not recommend taking any sleep aids. Even melatonin was shown to cause depression in people. I was forced to stop taking them because of the effect they had on me and my sleeping. All they will do is prevent your body from naturally forming melatonin.

Some other possible activities could include: reading a book, exercising (a few hours before bed), taking a hot bath a few hours before, and mental stimulation throughout the day.

Best of luck, hope this helps.

I get plenty of sleep, but I'm always (and I mean always) groggy in the morning when I have to wake up by alarm.

I say this advice to a lot of people:

When you close your eyes, imagine yourself walking down an endless hallway. Focus entirely on visualizing it, the more clear it becomes the faster you will fall asleep. If you've never seen long hallways, or you've watched Poltergeist 4 and it scared your pants off, try an endless spiral staircase, or infinitely zooming into a single spot in the blackness behind your eyelids.

i've always had trouble sleeping, especially in the past few years

for a few weeks last month i tried using simply sleep from cvs to get to sleep, and it actually felt like it kept me awake and every day i would feel like garbage from the pills

my insomnia probably stems from lack of activity, because when i'm running every day in the spring i can fall asleep in seconds at a normal time

                            yeah it sucks
