I thought the generally-agreed-upon theory was that the sun contracts over time (something like 1.5' an hour?) but because it's so huge as it is, the effects are unnoticeable... From our planet anyway, maybe because global warming counteracts that. What makes sense to me, however, is that if it was hot enough on Mars to support life, then it would be too hot on Earth to do the same. Earth is currently understood to be the only planet - in our soler system - that can support life. UNLESS there are some super life forms which can adapt to anything, but that's still a matter or opinion because there is of course no proof.
As for the talk of God, He created everything in the first place and set it all in motion - He only intervenes when absolutely necessary.
