Laptop for FFR/college

Ok so I'm most likely going to buy a laptop for college this summer. I want to make sure i get a decent one that allows me to dominate FFR without crappy lag. My price range tops out around $1200 but any info on a laptop that wont lag FFR will be helpful.

I don't want to waste money on a laptop and open FFR only to realize i won't be able to play to my full potential

it dosn't lag when i play my computer

i searched it up on google. looks pretty good. But i've heard of lots of people that have had problems playing FFR on vista. Maybe their is only problems on the desktop-not the laptop vista?

The people who have problems with Vista usually don't have a good enough computer to run Vista well or don't manage their computer well. Also make sure it has some sort of video card to minimize lag, they really help a lot. My laptop has a graphics accelerator and I can feel it, I run WoW at a 7FPS.

You're not going to be able to find a laptop without vista for less than $2000, much less $1200.

From my experience, vista + desktop = lag.
My processing speed and ram shouldn't have been a problem, and aswell my video card...
PC didn't come with a bunch of crap software and trials.

Popped in an XP drive and i was on my merry way.

EDIT: Except drivers, which were annoying to get.

i dont lag on vista but mines a portable desktop so maybe thats why its so awesome?

Vista doesn't cause my computer to lag/slow down/be choppy. It's flash 9 and Vista in my case.

I got my laptop with XP last october for $1400 including upgrades that I got. It was originally $1100.

Key words: last october. Usually now you can only get the higher end models with XP.

While some manufacturer's have started offering XP again, most have transitioned to Vista. And really, Vista is much better. FFR will run great if you have a half-way decent computer; make sure you get 2 GB of RAM, though. This is cheap enough, and definitely worthwhile.
