Actually, my [awsome] science teacher doesn't even talk about the theories of how we bacame the humans we are today. I don't think teachers are supposed to anyways.

You learn SCIENCE in science class, and you learn the controversies surrounding scientific studies. If your teacher refuses to teach the origin of life because s/he is afraid to draw anger from anyone outside of the classroom or, worse, because s/he chooses not to believe SCIENCE and also chooses to deprive students of SCIENCE, that person is a BAD teacher, and if your school mandates that the origin of life should not be taught then I don't care how "recognized" your school is, you are not learning science according to the National Science Education Standards and you are at a BAD SCHOOL.

Well, first off, I don't think I mentioned everything that I was trying to say. She tells us about the different theories, then she says it is up to us to believe in what we want to believe. Also, I feel I am getting a very good educaction in my school, no matter if I am missing that bit about evolution or intelligent design or whatever. I wouldn't judge the quality of the school by if they teach a certain bit of information or not...

It's not regulation. They know the controversy and they let that decision fall to the schools. (Was told by the man who gave his opinion on how humanity came around and quickly moved to the next subject.)
