Thnik about programming, it's fun when you're working on what you want but sitting 8 hours a day trying to create a program that will manage trucks of potatoes? No thanks, at least for me

Thanks for elaborating for me, stretch.
Well I don't agree, in particular because although this applies to the majority of people, it doesn't apply to everyone. It's all anecdotal evidence and you don't know if kids that skipped high school would have ended up the same way if they didn't skip it. I barely went to school for a large chunk of time and I turned out just fine. There are prodigies that skip almost the whole public education system and go straight to college and turn out just fine (Michael Kearney?), and there are others that don't.

If he wants to do it and feels it's right for him, it probably is. Most kids turn out the wrong way when they're forced into these situations.

I am not gonna program machine code, lol. That stuff sucks. Programming games and programs is my kind of thing.

I know several kids who skipped high school and went straight to college. While this doesn't sound like the same thing, those kids never got the opportunity to develop the interactive skills you get in college. I mean, I know some incredibly gifted kids are loners, but the high school period is a huge growing stage for people, and I think socially, kids who don't go to high school wind up being hurt in the long run. Unable to deal with conflict or just people in general.
I build relationships through other people like me...which is scant few. Not to sound arrogant, but most kids are far below my intellectual level. And I just don't relate with them...not even the gifted kids. So really, it hardly affects me, I have built relationships through other means, which suits me perfectly.

You can make an exception to nearly anything.

This is one of those circular arguments that get nowhere, so out of respect for this thread, I'll just say that I appreciate and understand your opinion. It's true, there are some people gifted enough to leap frog public education, but as you said, these people are prodigies - not the general population. Prodigies are few, general population is many.

Anyways, I'm not telling Bynary to run away from this place, I'm just trying to make sure this is what he really wants. Making decisions like this when you're 14 could have pretty serious consequences later on in life.

I mean, I know everything goes case by case. And my experience is with girls who a) came from difficult families and b) were taken advantage of by their college classmates.

And there's nothing wrong with finishing high school early and moving on to college. The problem comes when these very young students are dropped pretty much completely on their own. If you have support coming from somewhere then I don't see you having trouble.

Plus I teach high school and I see students who are well above the intellectual level of their peers and I see students who think they are well above the intellectual level of their peers and both types of students benefit from learning to interact with people their age. In any walk of life you are going to meet people you think are complete idiots, and you will be forced to work with those people.

Yeah...you're not going to develop a lot of true social skills. Sure you may take classes on public speaking but the maximum crowd you can speak for is ~40 + faculty?

It just sounds like a really dodgy idea and make sure they are ACCREDITED before you do this.

Otherwise it sounds just like a degree mill.

Look at your age. I couldn't possibly imagine thinking ahead to college and work when I was 14. You may be extremely gifted, but making an important life decision like this takes a mixture of maturity and intelligence.
EDIT: This just seems like a way to show off, yet again, in my opinion. I do wish you the best of luck with this though.

Re: So I Found About this new High School...

This place is located on a college campus. I trust that it provides quality education...especially since I am researching into this as is my mom. Plus, if it's founded by Bill Gates, then I have even more faith in it.

To be truthful, other schools are not equipped to deal with me. I found NINE classes, four honors, to be so easy that I sometimes don't even want to work (yeah, I am doing 9 classes at once atm). I feel like an idiot for not taking a bunch of AP classes at the start..which I presume would be too easy. Really, teachers recognize me as extremely gifted, to the point that even higher level classes are too easy for me. So really, if I can do this, it will hopefully be a large challenge that will kick-start me back up, because right now I am tired of Virtual High School. It has helped immensely in achieving my educational goals, but it's just too easy. If I find 9 classes easy, that scares me...really. So I personally this will be a boon for me, especially since it will help me glide through college.

P.S I don't have any desire to associate myself with other kids, I just can't stand them..I get my social skills elsewhere, and they are on-par with my peers.

Take a long hard look at your signature.

EDIT: You aren't showing off, that was the wrong way to say it. You simply states facts in your original post. This seems more like a profile thought than a thread.

Though, it worked well in creating discussion.

Lol, that's the signature I've carried for years. I've had it since I first went on the internet.

                      +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I understand making a critical life decision like this at 14 is some serious stuff. But I've been talking about this since 13, and even now I haven't fully decided on my future yet, though I have a good idea of what it will be. But I HAVE decided on how my education goes. Because think of it this way. If I have no plan for my future, then how will I make it in life? How can I plan my education so that I can get the highest quality life afterwards? How will I know what my life will be like?

You do create plans, you just happen to be creating them earlier on in life than the average person. Nothing wrong with that at all. Most issues have been discussed already, the social aspect and precaution due to age.

You act like you have to make the decision now, which you could do. Just don't feel rushed... well I guess you aren't being rushed, but rather are anxious.

I'm going to shut up now, I look like a dick.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you still have to be admitted. You didn't really state what you had to do.

My future is bright, I know this. But there are so many exciting things that I am going to do, that I am anxious to get out and graduate, so I can truly begin to do what I want, especially the programming of what may be my brainchild: my video game. IMO, it'll be revolutionary, because it is nothing like the games released today...in some ways. I don't have to rush, but I have determined what the next 3-4 years will hold, and I intend on getting the most out of them.

I assume so, but when I look at my school records, they are scintillating. I have confidence that I'll get in IF that's the case (I don't recall seeing a rigorous selection needed when reviewing the school). I am not assuming that I'll get in. If I don't, then I'll switch to my alternative: go to my zoned school, graduate high school at 16 and college at 18. My local high school is fabulous; one of the best in the city. So if I have to go there, it isn't a total loss.

I can't understand why such an excellent establishment founded by the high and mighty Bill Gates would have 40 students enrolled. Especially with such low requirements (2.0 GPA, 11 credits). And correct me if I'm wrong, they pay for tuition? As in you don't pay a dime to go to this school (other than fees for books etc.)?
