I don't find that it's "no life" but you could take time to do something else you like. I personnaly don't think you do 16 hours of constant Math problems. If so, you could take some break and relaxLast edited by Artic_counter; 01-4-2008, 11:12 PM.Comment

Re: Why do FFR players "have no life"?
Yes theres that but most guys who have sean me play say three things:
1. If your goood at FFR You can finger better, (I don't know if this is true)
2. You best be having people pay you for massages. (My mom tells me to get my head phones and pounds on her back to the beat)
3. "Man you must whack off a lot!"Comment

Re: Why do FFR players "have no life"?
The answer is quite simple. Volleyball is a sport and sports are considered social activities. Playing on a computer isn't considered a social activity (even though you do socialize with people...just in a different way).
Regardless of that...if you enjoy playing FFR other peoples' opinions shouldn't bother you. It's not like you're hurting anyone.Comment

Re: Why do FFR players "have no life"?
Now there's a question that probably can make this into CT-like lol. I'll answer it since I'm bored.
For the general public, a life is seen as doing activities dubbed worthwhile in our society, like becoming a thriving business man, precise surgeon, intelligent lawyer etc. Those examples may be of the extreme thought of having a "life" but the same applies to those who believe this with more minor actitivities. I think this is fairly accurate.
But for myself, my definition of life is seen by numerous people as well, I'm sure. I believe a 'life" is living, just doing what you have talent for, something you have fun participating in, or both. Most forum members here would probably agree with this belief, we sit on our computers all day and play this game, post on forum, watch anime, among others. But most or all of us have no care, we're following the belief we hold of what a life is.

From experience, the defining quality that makes someone's skill at something imply they have no life seems to be whether that activity is one that traditionally is only done casually without any special effort to become good.
Everyone knows that you don't really just say, sign up for a volleyball league when you've never played before, cuz you feel like it, unless you expect to lose lose lose. Thus, someone who plays volleyball in a nearly professional way doesn't "have no life", they're an athlete.
However, when you take things like say, FFR, or DDR, or Lasertag, or anything like that, the issue is that many people do those things entirely casually, for the heck of it, and don't necessarily expect to require or want to develop a high degree of skill.
My friends and I (We had a group usually of 3-8 of us, great fun you should all try it) used to play lasertag fairly often, at least once a week, usually twice. As a result we all got pretty good, certainly a lot better than the random teen schleps who wandered in because they were bored, to play a game or two and leave.
I completely lost count of the people who insisted that I was either a cheater, or had no life, or both (I was pretty well undefeated for the better part of two and a half years) and I eventually figured out that the thing that made them say so, was that to them, this was something that -everybody- was supposed to do only casually, for the heck of it, when bored. Importantly, it was -not- to them, something that people should actually want to take time or effort to become actually skilled at, and so anybody who did, had to have nothing else to occupy their time.
So I think that's what it boils down to. They see FFR as a silly game you casually play once every couple days when you're bored and need something to do, and utterly don't see it as something you would actually spend time or effort into building up skill on, and so it is easy for them to assume that anyone who would take that time (And they'd all tell you it would take a lot longer than it actually does) must have no other life.
*snicker* Come to CT some time.Originally posted by TS SonicMaster/longpostLast edited by devonin; 01-5-2008, 08:47 AM.Comment
