    Portable Nuclear Power in 2009

Here is another example of a chit chat thread that is worthwhile:

Alternative Energy Innovation, Alternative Fuels, Advanced Batteries, Electric Cars, Free Energy, Fuel Cells, Geothermal, Hydrogen, Hydro Power, Nuclear, Solar Power, Waste Power, Wind Power,, Wind Energy, zero point energy, cold fusion...

Soon our personal homes will be invaded by the military for possessing nuclear technology!

Toshiba has developed a new class of micro size Nuclear Reactors that is designed to power individual apartment buildings or city blocks. The new reactor, which is only 20 feet by 6 feet, could change everything for small remote communities, small businesses or even a group of neighbors who are fed up with the power companies and want more control over their energy needs.

Yeah, but how much does a 20x6 nuclear reactor cost?

abcdefg is under heavy siege for possession of what is thought to be known as a "nuclear program"

Nuclear power is quite expensive, and dangerous. But were talking about something like a small generator. These wouldn't be AS expensive or dangerous. Nuclear power is also very efficent and "clean burning", if you will.
I support nuclear power, and this idea.

Just in the U.S. or across the world?

                EDIT: Nevermind.

This is made. Reminds me of the article I read on wireless electricity. Trying to find it right now.

That is pretty interesting, but what happens if there is a meltdown, if that is even possible with this new reactor? Would the entire block have to evacuate their homes for fear of radiation and other dangerous health problems?

I hope to see this in Canada as well. I also hope that this "fail-safe" reactor is ACTUALLY fail-safe.

Modern reactors can't meltdown. They've been like this for awhile and are incredibly safe.

This sounds like a pretty awesome idea to me.
