Lol yeah, I think I'm gonna get an AGP card. But cool...I'll shop around, and I'm hopin I can find an open box 9600XT or something, because then I get a free copy of HL2 with it (which would pwn majorly).
Question about Video Cards

FX5800 is crap from the crap line nVidia came out with to counter the ATi 9700. nVidia quickly realized it sucked and released the 5700 and the 5900, which are relatively comparable to ATi's offerings. If you are looking at nVidia, the only real option would be the 5900(xt probably).
Hmmm, I think I should summarize this thread to help you with your decision.
ATi Offerings:
-9600XT 128mb ($150) not as great performance as some other
-9600Pro 128mb ($100) less performance than the 9600XT, but less money as well
-used 9700pro ($???) if you can find a cheap one this will be your best performer
nVidia Offerings:
-FX5900xt ($150?) better performance than the 9600XT (I think) but maybe too expensive
-Ti 4200 ($100-) if and only if you don't care about DX9, this is a great card. and cheap
so I think that basically sums up your options, there are others, but those are the best price to performance that I know of...
Edit: the thing is that you may not even notice the performance difference between these cards, so I think the 9600xt is as good of an option as any. Plus, the half-life 2 effectively drops the price by $50...Comment
