500 houses have burned down.....i dont know about my dads house, but i do know that they say that a lot of them are in rancho bernardo and his is right along the 15 freeway in the middle of rb. which is right where they keep saying the fire is. its like the fires are coming closer in all directions. we cant drive in any direction but south for a little bit because the fires are close in all directions but evven south there is a fire. so basically we are stuck here and have nowhere to go. its not like i know anyone in mexico anywayz.
I admit that I feel sorry for all of the people that are having their livelihoods destroyed by the fire, but I also think that this is a humbling experience and that much can be learned from it. Those rich people living in Malibu and what not will hopefully learn that they should not put so much into material objects when they can be destroyed so easily.

it's ironic how one of those people is Mel Gibson.

yeah, man, damn those rich people living in Malibu who have worked hard and been successful in their careers. burn their houses down, they don't deserve sh*t. humble them real good.
your comment was wholly inappropriate, by the way.

i semi agree, but then again you are twisting his words a little. he didnt say they deserve it, and as for malibu, they are doing just fine okay. 150k acres of san diego has burned so far, 500+ homes, 250,000 mandatory evacuations. people can smell sd smoke from northern california, and they are fricken upwind too.

that's what i was trying to emphasize. he's the one worried about the people in Malibu, not me.
i live in San Luis Obispo like i said earlier, and it was smoky as hell here today. i think there was actually a small fire in the south part of the county (SLO county) that blew up here, so i don't think that it was from the SD fires. i don't know where you got 'people can smell San Diego smoke from Northern California', because a lot of that smoke is blowing out over the ocean, but nonetheless, the situation is really grim. tomorrow will probably be just as bad, if worse, because winds won't be subsiding.
my brother lives in san fransisco and he said he smelled smoke and there arent any fires there right now. and i did saay they were upwind/
edit* update: 300,000 evacuated. 45acres of burning fire, 200,0000 acres burned already. its working its way west towards the coast. once it hits the coast its gonna go south. towards me. =(
this fire:
2 days, 200,000acres so far
cedar fire:
12 days, 282,000acres.
they also say this is the worst fire conditions of the century. thats the last hundred years people.
500,000+ people evacuated in SD county, 150,000+ in LA, Ventura, San Bernadino and Orange counties. Over 1200 buildings have burned down, not including homes.
something like 583 square miles of land have gone up in flames.
I find that having one house burn down is sad... but having this many destroyed on top of all the evacuees?
