    Re: College Applications

I applied to four schools and I got accepted to all four, my top choice being UCBerkeley. Now I'm chillin up at Berkeley. Sup. But I'm a transfer. Still not entirely sure how it is I got in, but I'm here, and they aren't going to get rid of me that easily.

Haha, stressful? Not even. It's because you live in the stereotypical environment that I will not mention for whatever reason. (zomg racism sqek ur so mean >=( )

I applied to two schools but only wanted to go to one. First one sent back a rejection letter. Second one (the one I wanted) accepted. Changed majors two years in and I'm looking at 9 semesters to graduate. This is my 7th.

The school I went to offered me 24,000 dollars to go there. One of the ones I didn't go to had a professor from my department call me at home to try and convince me to go there.

            It was fun times.

Heh, so long ago for me. Applied to one, got into one. (UF) I guess I'll have to go through a similar process for grad school soon.

ckj, that's only because you live in a place where you spend the first 18 years of your life worrying about getting into a UC.

In any case the author of my Statistics book is from San Luis Obispo. Pretty neat.

                    Re: College Applications

Back in winter of '02, I applied to Rutgers New-Brunswick, URochester, Carnegie Melon, Northwestern, and UPenn Wharton

Wharton rejected my ass because I'm dumber than Rubix (i thought gases weren't fluids =/). Carnegie Melon rejected me because I was stupid enough to apply to the CS program which is #2 to MIT. Rutgers offered me a full ride, URochester offered 16k annually, and NU took me but offered nothing.

for some reason i figured being 160k in debt at 22 wouldn't be such a bad idea... oh nu...

want to apply to grad school in the coming years. ideally i think i'd want a PhD in economics because i want to teach, but i don't know how i'd really get accepted anywhere considering i uh... didn't take math in undergrad (placed out of a couple calc courses, so filled my undergrad math requirements without ever taking math, i wanted to take lit courses instead so i did). i don't know, i mean, i got a 3.2 which isn't great but it's in one of the best econ programs in the world. and if i applied to say... rutgers, would they reject me? meh, could always just get a masters in education. would be less time and easier, and i doubt teaching ap econ to the best and brightest of a high school wouldn't be so bad.

I'd rather be doing college applications right now. Lol. Those weren't so bad because I had my teacher recs and some essays done over the summer.

                          Re: College Applications

                          Oh it's tons of fun.

Although I'm taking a class that pretty much goes through the whole process. Unecessary I know, but I don't think I'd do it as well if I were on my own due to sheer laziness.

I plan on applying to about 5 schools right now. I'm almost positive I won't be getting any scholarships unfortunately. I plan on either majoring in Computer Science or Information Technology:Network Administration, depending on which school I get into (at some one program is better than the other) although I'd rather not shrink my possible career options.

I've visited a few colleges thus far, interesting process.

College essays and the application itself are fairly easy in my opinion, although asking for a little help never hurt. Resume was a little annoying because I had to remember a **** load of stuff.

I just want college to come is all.

For me, it's not about getting into a "top school" and the typical Asian stereotype. I'm more concerned at where I'm going because I'm quite limited in the places I CAN go (due to money issues and some family stuff). I'm applying to some UCs and some states, but I'm not stressing over whether I get in or not because I"m almost guranteed to get into SF state (which is my top choice).

Just thought some other kids would be in the same boat as me hahaha.

Pro tip: It's okay to get a little creative with your essay. But don't over do it on the BS.

Also, it helps to apply for a major that isn't popular. Because, you know, once you get accepted to a University, you can easily switch majors.
