My question is that if people are spotting these things then why don't they go after them almost immediately instead of standing there saying "duh look at that Clem. ain't that one'em there nessies?"

Not true, as not all of the ocean floor has actually been explored, but anything that close to the surface would have easily been found by now.

Seriously, I live right next to a lake, and see ducks there all the time. When it gets around sundown, it looks like theres 20 loch ness monsters out there.
