I totally miss the point of threads. I'm just that amazing. So instead of commenting on the topic at hand, I pointlessly correct spelling and grammar mistakes, and do exactly what the OP is ranting about.
Seriously. Zajac only made that post against Greek to show the Greek needs to stop being such a bitch to new members about grammar mistakes, since he wasn't exactly a perfectionist himself. And then you come in and try to one up Zaj by correcting him? Quite a few of your points are fairly stupid. For example, he put the word start in capital letters to put an emphasis on it. There is nothing wrong with that on a ****ing internet forum. Get over yourself.
Just because it's a public forum, doesn't mean it can't have tyrannical rules. The constitution doesn't apply to forums. Almost all places on the internet have the hierarchical-type "hazing." Go to any forum and expect to see older members treating newer members a bit worse than if they were there for a while. It's just the way it works. No sense in complaining about it.
And zajac, you seem to be quite the close-minded person yourself. Calling all Americans rednecked pussies. Not all Americans are redneck, not all Americans are pussies. Also, other nationalities have a tendency to be "rednecked pussies" as well. So don't just pick on Americans.
[Edit]
For example, I play an MMO called Silkroad Online. Before there was a Vietnamese ban, 99% of all the Vietnamese players were complete and total assholes, sort of like the way Greek acted, except much worse. Now I know Vietnamese people aren't all assholes, and cannot be judged by the way those who player SRO, just like you can't judge all Americans by the way some act on the internet.
And seeing that you said you were Polish, brings me to my next point. Almost every single Polish person that plays the game, are complete self-centered assholes who have no tolerance for any other race except for themselves. You will see them act like a douche-bag to any other player, even if the player was just trying to help. Now, I know you're not like that, so I'm not going to judge you by the way Polish people act on the game.
So uh, don't be a douche-bag about other races, be a douche-bag about other people

Reason: Forgot some stupid examples :X
True, it could have strict rules. But it doesn't. So people really do need to chill out with the grammar. If it's really that bad, okay, have some fun with them. But don't be a bitch about a single mistake.
I have a shotgun. Does that make me a redneck American?

While I do think it's annoying to sometimes have to "decode" the horribly butchered english from certain FFR users, I don't think it's worth it to criticize them, as by doing so, one would need to, from that moment on, make sure every post, comment, etc., would be as flawless as a ****ing term paper.

INDEX REPRESENT...BITCH

I only care about spelling/grammar if it's obvious that the poster is fluent in english and they're just being an idiot. If I'm unsure about the poster's fluency, I assume that they are not fluent when they say things like "maked". It's a simple mistake common of people who aren't native to/fluent in english. Past pretense is usually made by adding "ed". How is someone to know that the past pretense of "make" is actually "made" instead of "maked"? When YOU were learning english, YOU TOO made mistakes such as these. ESPECIALLY if you learned english as your native language. Youngsters are notorious for "ed" errors. "Mommy, mommy, I eated it!"
What bothers me universally are problems that even non-fluent english speakers should know better than. Things like walls of text (lack of paragraphing), no punctuation, and rampant spelling errors.
I agree that people are too harsh on those who don't have perfect english. We should be helpful, not hostile.

I can't agree on that anymore than anyone else has. English is my native language, but I may make really big and stupid mistakes for these few reasons; I actually hate spelling and grammar, I totally suck in it when coming to my grade level, and I have no understanding to all exceptions, rules, and counter-rules/exceptions in the english language.
Actually, in fact, English is the EASIEST (notice the emphasis on english) language to mess up in grammar and spelling wise, but is an easy language to speak. You will know what I'm talking about if you take a nice long look into foreign languages (such as japanese, spanish, italian, etc.) and learn the facts about how their rules and crap are not like english.
I love reading all of your replies and views on the opinion!
Ther's a lot that I have to say to certain people's opinions, and I don't quite have the time, nor the care to do right now, but one thing I can't let go, and that is Rel89's post, if you can even call it that...
Buddy... Do you have any thought behind your pointless spew of words to form such a small sentence?
My correcting Greek who is trying to correct a new member so harshly as well as a foreigner, isn't the fact that I can correct him as well, but the fact that if someone is to be so judgmental on someone else's spelling and grammar, that they shouldn't actually correct someone elses spelling and grammar then... And of course I had some small mistakes and flaws in my rant on Greek, but then again you don't see ME going around correcting everyone's mistakes, I just try to be helpful and overlook those minor flaws...
So. No. I actually am NOT being a hyprocrite. You've overlooked the simple point of why I tried correcting Greek. Think a little bit before you post next time in a thread that requires some thought.
Actually, it pretty much does. English isn't learned overnight, so until you can exhibit a fluency, making grammatical and spelling errors (especially in such a screwed up language) will be tolerated.
You, on the other hand, are clearly fluent, so more is expected of you.
Grammatical and spelling errors have nothing to do with capitalization either.
You can have those errors without sound like a complete idiot.
