No one ever goes to literature. Might as well keep it here...since technically, HP is much more than a book.

    It's a way of life.

      Anyone finish the book yet?

      I'm only on chapter 7.

Although I'm taking breaks and playing FFR.

Yes, I am going to need some more information. What is your social security, work hours, sperm count, sexual orientation, and hours of absence from your home?

Got it at 3:40 PM (mail was slow today >_>), finished it at 1:10 AM. Broke only for food and bathroom.

At 758 pages, it's the second-longest book in the series, and assuming I took 30 minutes of break time, I ended up reading the whole thing start to finish in nine hours (540 minutes), making for a reading time of 1.4037 pages per minute.

        But screw the math.

Anyway, I'm going to give my impressions of the book in a spoiler-block so you all aren't ruined. Highlight the quote box below if you want to see. But know that in the quote box, I won't hold back anything just because it might spoil something for you.

The ending was a HECK of a lot more conclusive than I expected it to be. I expected an ambiguous climax where no one really knew what happened to Voldemort, but the obligatory crisis was stopped. For instance, when he attacked Hogwarts, I expected Harry's side to win the battle while Voldemort fled, end of story.

But no, Harry kills Voldemort (or rather, causes Voldemort's own spell to kill him) and we even get an epilogue! Such things are rare in stories these days; it was a great pleasure to see.

Now I'm sure there are plot holes, but none are readily apparent. This was definitely a good thing. If you go back and examine the story, there are likely errors or places where it's hard to figure out how A led to B, but just while reading the book, I didn't find any.

One thing I would've liked is a bit more info on the Dursleys. What happened to them after they moved under the protection of the Order, and how did the Battle of Hogwarts affect them? This isn't really what I would call a plot hole, but just a nice bit of information that could've been written in.

As for the ending, it appears ending 2 is what occurred. Harry lost several friends (Fred, Lupin, Tonks, etc.) but he triumphed in the end. Though this ending is getting a bit boring in overuse, it still was probably the best type of conclusive ending possible for the series. The characters chosen to die were probably the best in terms of the ending and the story as a whole, as well. Lupin, Tonks, and Fred were important to the story and are memorable characters, but don't cause the sort of despair and depression losing one of the three main characters (Harry, Ron, Hermione) would've caused.

Now I admit I should've expected the Snape twist, but I didn't see it coming. I don't know if Rowling had it in her mind to make it so that Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him when she was writing Half-Blood Prince, but thinking back on the scene, I can't help think she did. Dumbledore was saying, "Severus...please..." and, in Harry's words, pleading. Now we know he was pleading for Snape to -kill- him, not spare him. It fits too eerily well to have been thought of after writing book six.

Well I lost my train of thought. I'll come back with more if I feel like it, but I just wanna go to bed now. I've exhausted myself doing nothing but reading half the day, so I'll be able to think more clearly on the story tomorrow.

Re: Madness Is About To Insue

                Wow.

I never expected for some things to happen... although theories were given from people.

I really hope the movie gives the book justice.

I would hate to see it cut to shreds like the other ones.

                I can't believe that it's over.

                SPOILER ALERT
DON'T READ UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUIN THE ENDING
OR IF YOU HAVE INDEED READ THE LAST HARRY POTTER BOOK

I would have liked to see a more climatic scene with many of the deaths. I felt as if they came too suddenly.

I'm glad that she did give us insight into what happened to our heroines in the future. As I was getting near the end, I had about 100 pages left or so, I was beginning to doubt that many of the things I had read on Mugglenet that were susposed to be answered, were not going to be. However, I was proved incorrect and thankfully I learned what I wanted to know.

I felt as if the '19 years later' insight was a bit hurried.

I'm glad that Ginny and Harry married and had children.
It was interesting to see that they named one of their children after Albus and Severus.

I didn't know how the book would play out... and I was surprised at the fact that Harry appeared as if he was going to die.
Also with the fact that Severus was actually on Dumbledore's side. To be honest, I was on the fence with the idea that Snape could be good, or he could be bad.
I was also surprised to read that Snape loved Lily.
I have read that some fans thought that Snape did love her, but I really didn't expect it to be true.
                I feel sorry for him.

                So many people died...

                I might add more later.
I'm still in shock with the fact that it's finished.

Add a quote tag, then change the color inside to E1ECF2, by using the color tag. That's the background color for quotes, so it blends perfectly. See the Media forum thread "Rules for the Media Forum" for more.

                      Question for hardcore fans:

What are we going to do now that Harry Potter is over?

Re-read the books... watch the movies?

                      I'm going to read fanfiction...

However, I don't feel as if it will heal the emptiness in my heart now that I know it's over...

I was surprised by some of the language that was used.

Nothing big really, but it's sure a far cry from Ron's familiar, 'bloody hell!'

Harry and Ron saying, 'effing' quite a few times.

They sure aren't the timid eleven year olds that we first met, eh?

I was surprised to hear Mrs. Weasley say bitch after Fred had died.
