If you seriously wanna gain weight, you have to minimize your cardio and hit the weight room.
I doubt that's an option for anyone who runs track/xc. Most people who do wouldn't quit for just about anything, and a diet definitely wouldn't cut it.

Thanks! I would hate to think I did all that work to...look worse? xP

You're right, it's not an option. Most people (aside from the extremely gifted genetic freaks) can only choose one or the other. Get big, or run Track/XC. You can't do both :\
And yea, weight gainer supplements work, but I doubt you need to take any. But if you're training for XC, why would you want to take it anyway?
I've been skinny my entire life. I don't have to worry about what I eat, I never gain weight (albeit, I don't eat large portions in one sitting. I more or less eat whenever it is that I want to eat). In my case, it's genetic. Both my mother and my father were skinny as children and didn't gain weight until they hit their 20's.
Yeah, I'm underweight, but my doctor isn't concern and overall, I'm very healthy. I have the body fat percentage of 7% (on par with Olympic athletes).
The reason it's hard for you to gain weight is because you have an ectomorphic somatotype and you run track. A metabolism suited for high fat burning compounded by the fact that you burn even more calories running = skinny Chromer.

And yea, I used to have the same problem. I ran all 3 seasons too.

Proud to be Pinoy. lol My pic. avie. Thats what my body is now I wonder if I'd be bigger like your second pic. someday. I think when I turn 18. Though I don't prefer to be too big because it'd slow me down when I go to a Kick Boxing Match. Still training hard on Muay Thai though. I suggest that you guys should really join any sports that you prefer though.

I'm really skinny. Girls really like it too. I think it really depends on how you dress. Like.. kids that dress with really baggy clothing that are really skinny look really pathetic and disgusting. But if you have fitted clothes, it looks a lot better.
Hm. The baggy clothing never really was a problem for me. I am changing my style, sure, but I haven't ever really been outright rejected before. But maybe it's because I'm just too damn kyoot~ ^_^
But anyway, I'm 5'11", I weigh about 145-150, all the muscle I have is on my legs (DDR/ITG and soccer will do that), and I'm really skinny. I have enough meat on my bones to not look like those anorexic skeletons, mind you. I tend to skip breakfast because I don't care for breakfast; eating it wouldn't make a difference to my weight anyway. And to top it all off, my girlfriend doesn't have a problem with it.
Also, when it comes to being attractive, don't people put a little more stock in a person's face instead of their physique? I haven't cared too much about my appearance from my neck down, and I've never really had to given my track record.

Jewpin said almost exactly everything I was going to say about myself, so just pretend I said it too.
Although I am somewhat self-conscious about it (being a girl and all, skinniness also comes with other......... lackings) and my friends tease me about it, but in general I enjoy being light on my feet and not having to worry about what yummy unhealthy things I eat.

Because taking it while running every day seems like it would increase leg muscle, which can't hurt my times(unless you go way overboard)
No, not really. XC is an endurance sport, which means you don't want to increase your muscle mass. More muscle mass will require more oxygen, which means you'll need to increase your VO2 Max just to keep up (when you could be increasing it to better your times)
As a runner, you want your calorie intake to be about:
60% carbohydrates
25% fat
15% protein
Taking a weight gainer supplement will skew those proportions.
tl;dr version
1. Don't worry about muscle mass
2. Don't take weight gainer supplements
3. Slow-twitch muscle fibers ftw!
