    i'm not a hardware expert...more software

    i don't wanna pay $75 for some ram put it in and then find out it's not compatible or i put too much in one slot (my motherboard's kinda old), so I wanted some clarification.

        the last post you showed listed practically all compatibility issues, except for pin count, and well, that isn't too hard to figure out.

            i reccomend buying a refurbished dell, and adding RAM to that...
            you can get cheap ram for cheap dells, for cheap.
            i got a gig of ram for mine for 60$...

                Better to spend it on beer, pot, and hookers.

                Dells are the some of the crappiest computers out there. And I have very extensive experience with many dells of all kinds. Don't buy one. Waste of money.

                                    The computer is old and can't run Windows XP.

                                        Because 95 and 2000 are almost as good if not as good as XP... My current box runs 2000.
