One of my sister's friends works as a higher-up in the Geek Squad thing and said if I ever wanted a job there, he could get me one at the drop of a hat.
I politely refused without giving a reason. Can anyone guess what the reason was?
Anyway, despite my history with Costco, working in the front is not really that bad. The pay starts at $10 an hour and Sundays is time and a half, meaning $15 an hour. If you work at the front, you're either a cashier (stressful) or a boxer (putting customer's merchandise into boxes or back into their cart), which isn't nearly as stressful unless your cashier is moving at the speed of light and you can't keep up and then you have two carts to fill at the same time because the previous customer decided to pay with check and that takes forever and such.
Just don't work Stocking. It's literally back-breaking work. Not just my back, though. My arms, legs, and feet were impossibly sore after work every night.Comment

I would never work a stock job. I helped out at my mom's workplace (an insurance agency) moving boxes full of dead files. There were literally hundreds. Cardboard boxes. Pain and a half. I couldn't do that for pay on a regular basis.

Funny, No one can get a job at Geek Squad atm because of a hiring freeze. Also they can't betray head counts so it's a wonder why your sister's friends lied to you like that. (They're removing Cadet positions so all Cadets are either SOL or taking any open full time slots or part time slots.)
Geek Squad's awesome pay though if you can get in, seriously. My first job, started me off at 10.50 per hour with a raise after 90 days...My 1 year review's coming up, so I'll be getting another raise fairly soon. MHT also has the same payroll I believe.
And the discount... It essentially lets you buy the item for the price Best Buy purchases it for, plus 5%. USB cables that are usually like 32 bucks for example, only cost like... 3 bucks with tax. Full throttles are 1.50 with tax. Video games generally see a price drop of 10-12 bucks.
(I recently bought a Viper Alarm system for my car that normally runs at around 550, for like...260 with tax.)
So yeah, it's a great place to work but it gets quite a bit of bad press (With good reason at times), but the employee benefits are bar none some of the best I've seen. Too bad it's hard to get into.

I'm broke and I need money. I think this means that I either need to get a job or sell myself on the street. I haven't decided which would be an easier way to get money.

People have absolutely no respect for the store, its employees, and its merchandise.
People are absolutely stupid and just tear **** apart for... oh God who knows what they're thinking when they do it. My mom has told me countless times how people tear open a package when there's a sample product right next to the packages!
Some people just ruin things with the mindset that "it's their job!" No, it isn't.
