I saw them live at Snowball 2006 in VA. They were really, really good showmen. Sparda kind of sucked and Say Anything was really good as well."A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."

Re: any1 ever see mcr live?
Once again, highly debatable. I enjoyed the change of style from their more jazz inspired/frenzied albums to something more mainstream and proggish. I'd even go so far as to say The Black Parade was one of the better 2006 mainstream releases as far as albums go. Blue October was a critical let down, and while there were better albums out on lesser known labels (The Honorary Tritle, I'm looking at you) MCR's latest album is by no means bad by most contemporary music scales, and the critics agree. Most people that dislike them actually only dislike them as part of a counter-culture trend that fifteen year olds bandwagon (who also make up the primary sales demo for MCR, so it's a two sided blade) in order to be more 'with it.'
And honestly, the phrase 'bunch of emos' doesn't apply. I challenge you to write an album that's about cancer and redemption that's chipper. Their other two albums have themes of revenge rather than self pity, so they're more anger rock than anything else.
But of course, you all sound like you've formed a thought out opinion instead of spewing rhetoric."A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."

Re: any1 ever see mcr live?
I saw them on the Black Parade tour on March 4th. I thought it was pretty damn good stuff. They're definitely really good showmen, and their music actually has meaning, unlike most bands.Comment

Re: any1 ever see mcr live?
My name, coincidentally, is Michael. I'm 19 and I like the band. It should be noted that I hate Bright Eyes/Konner Oberst, Rise Against, and other such bands that are commonly associated with MCR.
The sheer amount of unabashad bias in this thread is kind of kooky. In the same way that any bandwagon (Chuck Norris jokes, Vin Diesel jokes, Nazis) is kooky."A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
