I didn't hear this incorrectly at all, as my IIT Teacher said it many times: Depending on the teacher, if you're caught using profanity (Ranging from hell to the f-bomb) within the campus property, you get fined up to $500 and you might have to go to court.

The excuse is that when kids get a school punishment, they don't care; but when the punishment gets the parents involved, they freak out. However, it's absolutely ridiculous that you even fine someone in the first place instead of just chastising them and giving them a written referral.

Some kids are always claiming that they wanna leave my home town; in this case, I have no choice but to agree with them. I trust that you'll believe me, since I don't have any written proof at the moment.

In the US and Canada, The Middle finger, and the F word, canot get you charged. (Unless you use the F Word, Towards someone).

It's the school district that's doing this. Anywhere off-campus is just fine. Sorry if I didn't clarify that.

Some students didn't even fight the power (i.e. were going back to class when they saw a huge fight going on) and got maced.

I think that fighting the power is the last thing on their minds right now.

That sounds a bit farfetched. I spent about a month in several different Texas school districts after the storm, and y'all have some pretty strict rules, but I've never heard of that one. What district/county are you in?

Really? That happened here in New Orleans less than a month ago. They're getting a little out of hand with the whole prevention thing, if you ask me.

We're in the Round Rock Independent School District. From what I hear, our Superintendent isn't all that good.

I can understand suicidal tendencies. Do they give you citations or other unreasonable punishments for saying one cussword?

Wow, that's going a bit to far IMO. I mean, detention is understandable, but being fined? If you say oh f*ck I dropped my pencil in class why should you get fined? If you use it against someone that would still be going too far but still understandable. Cursing is just a single word, if you don't use it against someone it's not hurting anyone.

That's one of the schools within the district. Stony Point is the school I go to, which generally has a bad but false reputation.

First off: Depending on the teacher, cussing isn't allowed on campus. Period.
Second off: Like I said, they think that if they take it to the parents, kids get learn their lesson. They're right, but to FINE the child?

They're trying to get rid of cussing within the school district, which we'll probably just start cussing as soon as we graduate if they succeed.

What's the policy on cussing in college?
