I've been using the same pair of shoes for over three years now, and I use them for everything I do. They are incredibly ratty, but I am loathe to buy new shoes since I always have such a horrible experience when doing so. The shoe never fits me correctly, and I am somehow never pleased with what I end up with.

I think that the main problem here is that I know absolutely nothing about shoes, or what sort of options I have available to me. So FFR, TEACH ME D:

Oh, and the shoes I get will need to be usable for everything ever - work (which means a lot of walking and some climbing), play (random running around), walking, more walking, and walking/running over fairly rough surfaces from time to time.

I'm sure someone here is a shoe guru. So please, HELPU MI~~~

I do the same thing with my shoes. First off, you're getting Sneakers. Sneakers are the best for everything. Second, make sure the sneakers you buy have a primary color of white. Anything else is retarded. Third, make sure you feel comfortable in them, or that they at least fit. If your feet are still growing in size, get a half-size bigger than your regular size. And fourth, don't put up with anything $80 or more. That's too damn expensive.

Can't go wrong with skateboarding shoes.

They're the best kind of athletic shoe which can be used as general purpose.

I would say stick away from new balance, and I had some new balance shoes, they like ripped on the side and everything.

Vans tend to hold up pretty well for me.

Ripzone, incredibly durably in my opinion, but by your description, yeah any skateboarding shoes would be great.

Skateboarding shoes in general. The most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. They are also pretty damn tough, they don't wear out too easily. DC's are pretty good. not all are built exactly for skating, some are just for the comfort. I myself have stuck with globes for the last 4 years now. Chet-IV's . Anyways, you can't really go wrong with skateboarding shoes. just make sure that they fit and are comfortable and they will do you well.

I basically use my generic basketball shoes for whatever I need them for, aside from using my running shoes for serious running. So yeah, if you're not diggin' the skateboard-ish look, you should probably go for some cheap basketball shoes. I say cheap because expensive ones are incredibly expensive, especially when you can get some good shoes for around $50 on sale.

I agree with everything Omega said except "white base color only". Black also looks fine.

No slip-ons or velcro or anything. Laces are the best.

Buy a pair of flat laces if the laces are round. They are a lot less likely to untie during the course of the day, and round laces look like crap when they get ripped up.

Black and white only for a base color. If you run around in dirt or do anything that would get your shoes dirty, I'd stray towards black. It's really up to you, though. Also don't go for designs like this, although that's pretty obvious. Keep it simple because shoes like those look ugly.

Also make sure your shoes are light. Very, very important for comfort. I prefer no cushioning, too. It's really bad when it's hot out and it isn't good for running. As long as your socks are comfy you shouldn't even need cushioning.

Spending $100 for shoes that last a year vs. $7 for shoes that last five. I wonder.

My prada sunglasses have lasted for 3 years, been treated like ****, and still somehow don't have a scratch on them. My $10 wal-mart glasses are broken as ****.

My Ike Behar collared shirt fits me perfectly, has not had a single frayed thread or a loose button for the 2 years I've had it and cost me $60. My american eagle collared shirt is broke as hell.


Believe it or not, higher price usually does get you better quality. I know you'd like to rage against the machine and all, but it's true...
