Yeah, I like to complain and yell at my parents for not giving me candy because I love candy and I LOVE IT AND I LIKE TO SHOVE IT DOWN MY THROAT AND SPIN AROUND AND AROUND AND THEN THROW UP.

    It's a good thing...

EDIT: Lol, this is why I like to piss off my sis. It helps get rid of hyperactiveness.

Goddamn some of the stuff they sell or advertise there is really, REALLY hard to resist buying. From the Better Trades system to that thing that cleans your air without filters, they're pretty hard to resist unless you're like me who doesn't have a way to pay anyone.

Except for that "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You To Know About" book. That dude is such a wack-job.

Whenever I see food/restaurant(sp?) commercials it just reminds me of my favorite food and completely forget about whatever was just on.

But some commercials go out of their way to make themselves seem nonsensical. For instance, the new "Yaris" commercials. We tyhe car
shoots lazers or whatever at a piggy bank. And some Southern Comfort commercial a while back was pretty stupid too

I dunno. Toyota is just doing a good job of demonstrating how the Yaris is exceptionally fuel efficient. They can just say that, but it would be boring.

I kind of want a Yaris now.

Does anyone remember the commercials that advertised a cough syrup that tasted extremely bad, and blatantly pointed that out? I thought that was one of the most interesting and risky approaches to advertising.

                  Re: Weird Commercials....

Advertisers today know that people want to keep their money. The conscious mind saves money, and the subconcious spends it. That's why whenever you go to Wal-Mart, the music playing in the background is masking subliminal messages SCREAMING AT YOU TO BUY!! In one Vagas casino I've snuck into, all you hear in the background music is the sound of coins dropping, as if it were a waterfall of coins and tokens and stuff. And if you look at a six-pack of coke from far away, there is a sexual subliminal message. Music is another way into somoeone's subconcious mind. "The best part of waking up, is..." You can fill in the blank, right? But when you watched that commercial, did you actually try to memorize that song? Music is an extrememly easy way into the mind. Also, many techniques adversiters use is to offer a free sample of their product. That creates a need in the potential customer to reciprocate with their business because they naturally feel a need to repay if they have been given something for free.

                    Re: Weird Commercials....

Subliminal messages? Please. Wal-Mart is incredibly blatant in their product-pushing. There are TVs set up throughout each store running ad after ad for products. I never even hear the store music anymore over the TVs. There are signs hanging advertising products. Announcements are made over the loudspeakers proclaiming big savings for the next thirty minutes. The products are continuously rearranged so you have to wander around looking for what you came for. It's not subliminal. It's very obvious visual advertising.
"Subliminal" messaging implies something picked up in the subconscious, not a Folgers jingle that's been used for decades. Using jingles to market products is just marketing.

I have actually avoided products who have had annoying advertising. Jingles are one of the things I consider "annoying".

I don't understand how they get some people to do those commercials where they have to say

                        "I have genital warts but it's okay now with . . . "

I realize the importance of getting out the message for treatment for herpes, but one: IF YOU HAVE HERPES YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T SPREAD THAT **** AROUND. Two: I'm pretty sure none of those actors will be able to get another job.

I found the one with the flying Nutrigrain bar pretty wierd...

I felt someone was gonna grab it, eat it, and watch as people-like crumbs scream as they're eaten, digested, and turned into poop.
