My parents are buying me a car.

I'm sorry, but this bothers me. I kind of feel like if you are wanting to strike out on your own, you should be able to take care of things like a car on your own. Depending on your parents for something so necessary to your escape says to me that you're NOT ready to leave. Maybe if you had a job and had some help from your parents to take out the loan for a car, and then YOU made the payments, I'd be more willing to believe you're more than just an angsty teen vehemently opposed to anything and everything you can oppose.

Do you work?

Not hard. I already made a point out of saying that supposting yourself is only difficult if you either don't know how to manage your money or spend it on stupid shit and/or services.


And panda, if you think I'm an "angsty teen" because my parents are buying me a car, that doesn't make any sense.
My parents are buying me a car because they bought my sisters cars, and because they're retired and don't really need to money.

And no, I don't work, I'm 15. But I will be working soon. Not to mention that I'm a musician and intend on getting signed to an indie label before I'm out of the house.

"Angsty" was not exactly the right word, but I couldn't think of one better. You're missing my point entirely: I don't have a problem with your parents buying you a car. My parents bought my car. My problem is that, as much as I hate to admit it, I would be financially crippled without the aid of my parents, who pay for my education, my food, my gas, my rent (which I paid until I had to quit my job this semester).

And it's definitely a great dream to be signed to a recording label at any time in your life, but you can't possibly believe it doesn't take a ridiculous amount of work to get a label. Or even to get a minimum wage job to pay for your demo-recording.

I'm not telling you it can't be done. I'm telling you you're not being realistic. Just because your parents bought your older siblings cars doesn't mean you can't say, "Hey, what if I made some of these payments?" It's a great test of responsibility, which you'll need when you head off on your own.

I apologize for the lack of depth in that last post as I composed it over a period of one minute at the end of a period in school in a rush and without proofreading.

First of all, I think what you're trying to get at is a suggestion that I'm not grateful, though I make a point to be grateful for just about everything I can be (which doesn't mean I have to be content with America, either).

Also, I already went over (twice) that I don't need my parents to help pay for payments if I manage my money well.
I would be relatively crippled without a car, but not without my parents (aside from the fact that they're supplying the car). My parents actually do a lot less for me than you would think.

About the music thing, I do electronic stuff, so I do not have to pay for a "recording." I also specifically threw out the term "indie label" (which refers to being a small non-corporate label, not the genre of terrible rock music) and there are already some who want to sign me.
Also, you say it's a lot of hard work to get signed to a label. This is only true if you're talking about shitty talentless popular (usually rock, pop, or rap/r&b) music and big labels which base their decisions on what so-called "artist" they can promote and whore out the most easily.
If you're a talented musician and you're interested in labels that are more interested in good music than making loads of money (they exist, and are fairly prolific, but big-name record companies certainly don't want you to hear about them whenever it's possible), it's only as hard as practicing your art. Not to mention that I would be keeping another modest job to go with it.

Basically, it all works out, and it's not difficult or unrealistic by any means.

EDIT: it should also be said that what you're saying only applies to people who do nothing other than slander the other person's spelling in a serious and in-depth argument. Pointing out a spelling mistake doesn't imply that you don't have an argument, but rather states that the other person simply spelled something wrong, in many cases (not including this one, in which it was likely a pet peeve of Grandia's [as it is of mine] when people spell the number like the website) showing obvious inferiority in the other person's intelligence.

Simply put: you're just being dumb; there's nothing wrong with pointing out spelling mistakes, unless (a) you're being hypocritical, or (b) you aren't also following through with your argument along with it. In Grandia's case, no one was arguing with him anymore.
