    Strep Throat sucks

    Alright so I have strep throat...Hurrah hurrah!!!

    Ok so I can barely eat, drink, swallow, and talk without wincing from pain...Anyone know of ancient Chinese remedies that will lessen the pain of this??? The antibiotics I'm taking aren't full power because I'm allergic to penicillin or w/e the **** is they give you for it...So yeah...

    Although I'd have to say, zil has it worse than me =\...

          Yeah, it kinda sucks. I used to get it pretty much every year when I was a kid. I thought everyone did until I talked to some people who said they had never had it before...

          Unfortunately there's not much you can do but wait it out once you've been to the doctor and gotten the medication. You can try throat lozenges, but it hurts to have to swallow so often. You can buy that throat-numbing spray, and that is sort of useful... but it's hard to do correctly and you end up numbing the back of your tongue.

          Try to drink as much as you can. Even though it hurts to swallow, you need it. Try getting something nice to drink like pear juice, or some other kind of juice that isn't very acidic.

                  When I sing, if I have a throatache, i'm told to drink lemon tea. Maybe that will help.

                                          I was told they give you meds now and it cures tonsolitis...Which sucks...Because there's no ice cream =(...

                                              I don't know if they still do that. Yes it stops tonsilitus and strep throat, but tonsils protect from various other (more serious) desieses.

                                              Tonberry, I've had strep throat on a yearly basis since I was 8 (which was 8 bloody years ago). My throat wasn't really great when I was born I guess. What works best is ginger ale. It'll hurt like a mean mother ****er when you gulp it, but after a while it'll temporarily sooth your throat. Bed rest is also a must (do not go stingy on this). Try drinking as much as possible (orange juice, some sort of fruitopia beverage, etc), it's all pretty good. It'll be hard to speak (and it will hurt like hell for the next few days), so what I like to do is carry around a note pad and a pen so I can communicate easily with people. Thank goodness there will always be the internet to type on easily.

                                              In fact, I had a terrible throat infection just a few weeks ago... and I got a nice 4 day weekend.

                                                      Hmm. It depends on the case but usually about a week or a week and a half for me. The severity differs from the individual's ability to fight off the problem.

                                                          Lovely...Doesn't having like pneumonia or something like that before, a couple of years ago, throw your immune system off balance and makes it a little harder to fight infections? Or am I just thinking random **** again?
