Clothing bought should be on either the premise of functionality, not what name is on it. That means a pair of nice pants should be about suiting their function of looking nice, not about the name on them. And also, the name on them means nothing about the functionality. There are tons of chothes that are designer, that are actually horrible in how long they last or how well it actually looks. For every designer piece of clothing, there is a non-designer piece that is VERY close to the same thing, and maybe even better. Many designers get away with having the name, yet not the quality.

Ehh... I'd laugh at someone who bought something like that and to their face. I do it to my sister all the time.

It all comes down to cost vs. benefit. I have so many other things on my list ranking above "expensive" clothes. Sure, it's fine to splurge. But damn. I can't possibly see myself buying really expensive clothes even if I had all the other things I wanted. Of course, this only applies to basics like jeans, regular shirts, etc (meaning not including dress/job clothes). There are plenty of ways to look good for a good price. I honestly don't see the point in it. Thus to me, it's a waste of money (and to many other people).

Uhh... More like it feels like we're banging our heads against the wall trying to read what you type... It takes more effort to type like you do than to actually type out the words.

When I go shopping and see clothes that are ugly that are really expensive I'm like "ew this is disgusting"

I can understand spending a lot of money on a nice jacket...or some shoes...you know, things you can wear everyday. And I definately think spending a lot of money for a nice suit is worth it. 187 bucks for a pair of jeans? That's pushing it, but you know, a good pair of jeans will last the rest of your life.

But anyone who pays 50 dollars for a t-shirt is definately a good candidate for being eliminated from the gene-pool.

I went shopping this weekend. All I wanted was a goddamn white collared button up shirt. I was naive and thought I could run down to Mervyn's or Kohl's and just pick one up, but no. What the hell is this "neck size" jazz? Who the hell measures the diameter of their neck?

And not to sound like a prick, but this thread sounds more like a "I CAN'T HELP IT IF I DRESS NICER THAN YOU" brag than an honest complaint.

In response to this i would like to say you were reading my arguement in the wrong way. Although i see where you are coming from but i just wanted to point out the exact situation... a lot of people in my school dress better than i do however it was more of the price and name of the object rather than the overall look that was being ridiculed.

Also the jeans are incredibly comfortable and have NO holes (also a hater of that fashion... it looks like you fall down the stairs every morning) and are said to last for a long ass time ( like 10 - 15 years)

Who are we to judge? Simple. Because he asked the people at his school to judge him. If he's going around telling people that he's wearing a pair of $187 jeans, he's asking to a reaction. And general reaction of the people posting in this thread was that he's an absolute retard. When you start going over the $100 mark for jeans, you're no longer paying for quality. You're paying for a brand or a logo, and there is no denying that. Have you ever seen a pair of jeans at wal-mart for that price? Didn't think so.

Another point on my behalf is that i didn't go around saying "HEY IM WEARING $187 DOLLAR JEANS" People noticed the brand and/or a girl who wears the same brand would be like "omg those are so hot (no exageration girls at my school love guys with style) (i dont get any of them) but didn't they cost a lot" and then guys would pounce on that oppurtunity

You are right sockwars, people WERE reading ur argument the wrong way. Also, I have no idea why they would just ASSUME u went around saying "HEY I'M WEARING $187 DOLLAR JEANS".

I'll type this nice and neat so everyone can understand me. I find it funny that people judge my intelligence based on the fact I type in short hand. However, most of you complain that you struggle to read my short hand typing....you guys struggle reading short hand and I'M the idiot?? LOL! OMFG people, if reading short hand typing isn't second nature to you by now, go freaking download AIM and chat with people on there.

Okay, now back to my main point...do you people know what it's like to be ridiculed to no end? It makes you feel like sh!t and destroys your self-esteem when a group of people relentlessly ridicule you. Yet here you are RIDICULING sockwars because you think he spent too much money on his jeans. Guidohunter, you say you have the right to ridicule him...fine you do. But don't you people think sockwars should also have the right to buy what he wants and wear what he wants without being harassed?! That's blatant clothesism right there(which is worse that racism and sexism put together).

Picture this:
We all go to the same school. sockwars enters the cafeteria and a group of kids yell out "Hey fagg!t, those are really sexy pants! Did your boyfriend buy them for you?". Then in chimes the FFR crowd with "Yea, what kind of f^cking moron spends $187 for a pair of JEANS!?". Yea, I bet sockwars would feel real good there. He's getting ridiculed not based on who he is but what he's wearing. That's where I come in and tell everyone to shut the f^ck up and leave the poor kid alone. It really sickens me that I'm the only person here who has the moral values to stick up for him.

Not only can I probably benchpress 2 of mostly everyone here, but I've been a student of various forms of Hand-to-hand combat for longer than most of you have been alive. So forgive me for not believing you would actually go through with it unless you had a baseball bat and lots of friends with baseball bats.

Quicker, while I can't say this with 100% certainty... I'm fairly certain you're the ONLY person using profanity in this thread. Nobody is calling him gay (even Jurs, who used the word more than once) or any other name. We are all just saying that we find it less than the best way to spend his money.

Also, you brought up the word ridicule. It just so happened that Guido and others started using it back. I don't believe we're ridiculing him. I find it more like semi-harsh critical advice.

Finally, why do you feel the need to post that picture, or bring up ANYTHING related to real life? This IS the internet. And despite your size/skills, if someone said something about your fashion, would you just assault them? Somehow, I doubt it, because I'm sure its happened before (maybe not fashion, but something), and you'd be in juvie or jail for assault and battery. Maybe even with a deadly weapon, if your hand to hand combat skills are so honed. That seems like a real intelligent decision. So while you probably COULD beat the crap out of most of FFR... what is the point in saying that out of the blue, unless you're trying to brag or intimidate (which won't work on these forums).

Jewp... how the hell do you not know about neck size on dress shirts? PS - You're probably a 15 (or 15 1/2), based on your pics.

EDIT: Oh yea. The shorthand typing nonsense... not a single person I know types like that on AIM. And if they try, I do ridicule them. That junk is the single most annoying part of the internet and shows nothing more than either an inability to type properly or a desire to look like an inability to type properly. Seriously... if you can type even semi-reasonably it is faster to type "to/too/two" than having to reach your little finger up to type "2".
