Build Me A Desktop ($6000 to work with):

I'm going to give all you compu-weenies a wet dream here... Build me a state of the art computer.

I'm looking to spend under $6000.

    Needs:
    As fast as possible.
    Best sound/graphics card as possible.
At least 500GB of internal HD space (Maybe 1TB?). Doesn't need to be the uber-expensive, ultra-fast HD, as that would jack the price $500 by itself.
At least a 21" LCD monitor. 24" if it can be worked in under the price.
At least 2 GB of RAM. Preferably 4+.
    2 CD Trays. 1 being a DVD-RW.
A solid sound system. Doesn't need to be top-of-the-line.

I think that are all my requirements... I don't need any wireless keyboard/mouse, but do need a keyboard/mouse. Want XP on it. Don't need any other software packages. Cool looking is a plus. Liquid Coolant is a plus too, but I doubt it can be worked in under the price tag. Don't need a printer.

So build me a computer (I'm not custom building it... so it needs to be through some company's website).

    Im getting

Basically all top of the line right there, same with card.

Though im only getting a 250GB HD SATA II. I recommend an ATI X1900XT Graphics Card and that Pentium D Processor.

      1. put the arcade back up... nobody cares that the forums don't work. or at least get on AIM so I can bitch to you about it.

      2. No monitor in there, and even with it... there is a good 2000 worth of stuff that can be thrown in to meet my price tag.

      3. That isn't through a site... I'm not building it myself.

      4. I know I can put together a $9000+ computer on more than 1 site... although I'm sure they're jacking the price.

      5. Is that price stuff in Canadian dollars? If so, its even less in USD.

EDIT: 6. I have NO CLUE what all the numbers/letters mean in terms of 1 product vs another. So showing me the pic really means nothing to me.

        1. Shutup

        2. I am at school in a different class

        3. Once the forums work, the site will work, tough luck, and I care.

          Suggestion #1:

          Monarch Computer Systems.

I'm not too keen on all the parts and would have to do a bit more research to find out what should be where (such as power supplies and motherboards), but this is a nice start.

This is without the monitor. I recommend the Viewsonic VX2025. Read why here: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...onitors/1.html

Let someone like Anticrombie check it out.

I'll see if my buddy has time to check it out as well.

Sorry, I'm just not good with complete customization like this yet. If you plan to drop six grand on a system, I'd say it's important to see what we can do to make it really nice.

I'm assuming you want a gaming computer, because otherwise there is really no reason to spend over 2k.

From Puget... this is what I came up with.

                    Compare to the Monarch?

Price is within 300 of each other... biggest difference is I cut the speakers. I don't have room for a full sound system, so I just picked 2 big speakers. Wouldn't mind having 2 speakers + Woofer.

I'll give you the other things:

Logitech Z-5500 Get these. They are better (and cheaper) than the Klipsch. Plus you can hook up your gaming systems to it with ease. I have the z680s, which are the previous version of this system. Amazing. Review.

Gateway Widescreen 21" I've heard so many good things about this, and I've seen it. Review.

Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse Sweet, easily rechargeable mouse. Do not get a wireless keyboard though.

                      Thermaltake case, Squeek? Ugh.

Get a sweet Lian-Li case, Tass.

Oh ok since you want 2.1 get these, as I've had them before. http://reviews.cnet.com/Klipsch_ProM...7-9807237.html

Don't want a wireless mouse either...

Why gateway for the monitor? Personal experience has taught me that gateway sucks monster cock.

I'm still up in the air on the speakers... given that Whorli and I are not 100% sure where this beauty is even going to go, let alone room for speakers.

Because I've heard great things about this monitor.

And suit yourself on the non-wireless mouse. I see no reason not to get one, as the good ones keep up with the wired ones. Plus a recharge easily lasts a full day's use. It's easy to just stick it into the base when going to bed. I personally hate wired mice. The cord always snags randomly and it bothers me greatly, even when it's the slightest snag.
